I won't get to see this unless they record it for DVD later. What are the chances they might do this?
I feel cheated because I can only get bits and pieces from this site or Youtube and it looks really good.
1,000,000 to 1.
Only on the rarest occasions do performances be recorded, and this is, unfortunately, not one of the legendary production to be seen for generations.
Many Sondheim shows have been filmed (Into The Woods, Sunday In The Park, Company, Sweeney Tood), so it wouldn't be a total shock, though I'd think if it were going to happen, we would have heard by now. That said, I'm clinging to hope. Since the film that was made was so awful, I'd think Sondheim would want to have this production filmed.

I don't know if I'd want this production to be someone's first exposure to ALNM tbh.
I don't think it hasn't been publicised (yet), but the London Open Air Theatre production of Into the Woods was commercially recorded and will be released fairly soon.

Or not.
He does want this production filmed. Truth is he wants all his productions Olmec but sadly it hardly ever works out.
Then why doesn't he volunteer to pay for it? I'm sure he could afford it. (And by the way, please don't take this as a knock on Mr. Sondheim, as it's a serious question.) I'm sure that the producers would be all in favor of filming the production (and I do think that it deserves to be filmed, especially the performance of Bernadette Peters that I think is one for the ages) so long as they were not paying the cost.
I wish I could answer that for you. All I know is that he is very passionate about all his productions being filmed. (Legitimately or not)
Well there will always be bootlegs for those who search
Yes but it's not the same.
