One performance you would like to go back in time to catch...

I second the Ragtime OBC
For those who thought NEXT TO NORMAL wouldn't have a life outside Broadway, well it's now playing in 4 cities, 9 different countries and has been translated into 6 languages.

"For me, Darlene Love in HAIRSPRAY."

Considering she's doing the HAIRSPRAY at the Hollywood Bowl this summer, you won't need a time machine.
"TheatreDiva90016 - another good reason to frequent these boards less."<<>> “I hesitate to give this line of discussion the validation it so desperately craves by perpetuating it, but the light from logic is getting further and further away with your every successive post.” <<>> -whatever2

Back in time to re-see something I saw.... Cliff Gorman in "Lenny". Mercy.
Or to once again see that original company of "Follies"

Something I didn't get to see, which would have been indelible, I'm sure, would have been the opening night of the original company of "Candide". OR maybe, the first night of the original "Cabaret". Ah well.

I've given this a lot of thought over the years, so you have to put up with five:

Nina Boucicault in "Peter Pan"
Laurette Taylor in "The Glass Menagerie"
Ethel Merman in "Gypsy"
Barbra Streisand in "Funny Girl"
Everybody in the original "Follies"

Too many to choose just one, so here goes:

- Lansbury in Gypsy, Sweeney Todd, Mame
- LuPone in Evita and Anything Goes
- Richardson & Cumming in Cabaret ( 1998 )

I'd love to see Angela Lansbury again in Mame now that I am old enough to realize how lucky I was and I would love to have seen Gene Kelly in "Pal Joey" (as the youtube clip shows, he was amazing. He was Gene Kelly from the movies, live on stage for $2.75 a ticket.)
