Is anyone else as excited as I am?? I can't believe in only 10 short weeks the most espensive show ever will be starting previews! I hope everything is going smoothly in preproduction!!!
Wait? This is opening by Tony cut-off?
Since when...?
If this is actually true, I'm sure the producers of this season's other new musical bomb are NOT pleased as their only shot at Tonys is for set design, it seems, at least at this point.

I just passed the theatre and it still says February 25th...

You know when you're walking through a cemetery and carved on a headstone is the phrase "He is not gone, only resting."?
Same thing with the theatre saying February 25th...
The poster for the show in Shubert Alley also says the same thing. However, there was an article that said that they are going to open the show this summer rather then in February.
They just have neglected to update the posters either in front of the theatre or in Shubert Alley to match the new information that was released.

ticketmaster still has seats on sale for feb.
Interesting, as only a week or two ago, I was checking out tickets for Spiderman....and NONE were beign sold.
Hmmm....doesn't seem probable.

I thought they had moved it to later in the spring? Did they ever do that or am I making that up completely?
I believe that the story of Spider-Man opening up in the summer was just something that Riedel wrote in The Post. My guess as to why they would do that would be to make up for the lost time that they spent not building the sets etc at The Hilton. However, I don't think that there is anything official about that either way.
I will believe it when I see it.
to the best of my knowledge it was all speculation after the Riedel story...we all waited for after the "meeting" to hear about a change in opening...but one never came.
Time will tell.

a) if it were opening on February 26th, the show would be going into rehearsal within the next few weeks - which means it would already be fully cast. If either of those things were happening, you'd have heard about it by now, I should think.
b) If it were opening on February 26th, given that it's the most expensive show in history, major ads would have begun appearing already - I may have missed them, but I don't think they have.
c) see a and b.

The guy playing Spider-Man, Reeve Carney, Tweeted last week that he was "Learning to fly today... Without a plane..."
Uh, for some reason I thought he might be talking about rehearsing, but then again he's made no mention of being in NY.

Who says they are rehearsing in NYC?

Yeah, what is happening with this!
I would imagine the rumours of postponement until the summer are true, because it's far too close to have not heard anything. On the other hand, why are ticket sales still open if they aren't opening in Feb?
The only way it would seem logical for the rumors to be true about them opening during the summer would be due to the fact that awhile ago they stopped working on the set while they tried to get more money.
I guess the only way that the show might need to open up in the summer would be due to the fact that they stopped working on the sets for a while when the creative team was begging the producers for more money. I guess they could be making up for the delay in the building process and need to delay the opening/ start of previews to make up for lost time.
I don't know if that is the case for sure, but it is the only thing that seems logical to me as to why they might actually start in the summer rather then in a couple of months.

George Tsypin is the greatest living set designer, as far as I am concerned (TLM notwithstanding). Your friend is very lucky to be working with the absolute best of the best. I expect their work on SPIDERMAN to be positively mind-blowing. If Tsypin's designs for the RING CYCLE are any indication, we are in for a sumptuous visual feast.
