Only in amateur theater...

I was chatting with friends about funny experiences that they have had watching amateur theatre. Amateur theatre is great, but because of limitations due to budget, talent availability and other factors, certain things just can't compete with the polish of a Broadway show. So maybe we can share funny anecdotes from our own experiences in watching or performing amateur theatre.

For instance, I have seen several amateur productions of 'A Chorus Line' and I just find it hilarious that in every single one, they cast performers who can sing but can't really dance in the featured roles and then cast dancers to be in the ensemble at the start as part of the dance auditions. And yet the performers that get cut in the initial dance auditions are always the best dancers, leaving behind those performers who are obviously better singers so that they can play and sing the featured roles.

Only in amateur theater is your Roger ~27 years older than your Mimi, who is clearly still in High School, making it an extremely uncomfortable 155 minutes.
