Opening Night Tickets

I'm trying to get tickets to an opening night of a broadway show. Telecharge isn't offering the date. Is there any other way to try to get the tickets, or should I just give up and try for a new date? Thanks

re: Opening Night Tickets

You can try going to the box office. I think generally, anyone who is involved with the show is invited to opening night and then if tickets are left (which happans almost always) the general public is offered them.

re: Opening Night Tickets

Nearly all Opening Nights are "Invitation Only".  Sometimes the show will release some seats (usually balcony/rear mezz) to the public a few days before opening night.

Tickets for opening night of Broadway shows generally are not open to the public. They are closed to friends of the show, producers, etc.

Tickets always open up a few days prior. They always keep them offline until they get things sorted out for that night.

Echoing earlier posters -- traditionally, opening nights have just been invite only, though over the past few seasons unless it's a show with a *major* star or a huge title, keep an eye on Telecharge day or two before the performance (if tickets become avail, the performance will magically reappear on the calendar). And at the very last minute, TKTS will be a spot shows drop some leftover seats.

Is there a reason this thread keeps getting bumped? OP asked the question in 2004 (and, unless they have a new user name, hasn't posted here since 2007). Yet the thread was dug up again in March, then suddenly again today? (I suspect whatever show the OP wanted to attend in 2004 has closed by now.)

I wouldn't say always,but sometimes they do.

re: Opening Night Tickets

General public tickets are ALWAYS released days prior. Separate lobby entrance and zero opportunity to go thru the press line or step-n-repeat (aka Red Carpet) without proper credentials (artist press reps handle those details and escort their clients thru all of this).

So do you know someone who attended the opening night performance of Ragtime, since those tickets are ALWAYS released prior? Or The Rocky Horror Show? Cats: The Jellicle Ball? Giant? Since you claim they're always released...

You are flat out wrong about this.  Selling unneeded Opening Night tickets to the public is more the exception to the rule.  Very often the producers need to pare back their own guest lists in order to accommodate everyone who needs to be there.
