Trump Takeover of the country

I'm sure it'll take a few days to ensure the facade of the building is properly taken care of (taking something down can sometimes by more of a project than putting it up.)

That being said, an AP Photographer took the picture in this article this afternoon of a flatbed truck w/a cherry picker that just happened to park right outside the Center today....

THE LOST BOYS Reviews

I feel like it's a coin toss, IMO.

Speaking purely personally --- Lost Boys felt like the *most* musical in terms of sheer scale, size and ambition, which shouldn't be unrecognized (and I hope is in the Tech categories). But I do wish the finances allowed it an out-of-town - it just wasn't cohesive at all to me between the two acts and left a luxury talented cast doing the best they could.

Two Strangers is a dark horse to me -

CHESS Sets June 21 Closing

Not a total shock considering the rapidly falling sales, but still, very sad for the many cast, crew and musicians involved.

As a Chess superfan, I *really* didn't care for the Danny Strong book. But hearing those songs performed so grandly was a thrill.

Looking forward to the next revival where Ivo van Hove trims it to 100 minutes, cast of ten set on a literal chessboard, ending with Florence viciously murdering the male leads all Nicole in Sunse

Unsubstantiated Rumor Abour ATG

It's my understanding from friends who've worked on both ATG U.K. and U.S. productions that the negotiations with BlackRock are indeed very true and have been in discussion long before this article dropped. Whether it'll go through or not, we'll see - but ATG has built quite an international portfolio.

I don't see any of the NY theatre owners getting involved - it'd be a *MASSIVE* investment, unless ATG was just willing to spin-off the

GIANT Previews

Couldn't find an official 'reviews' thread following search (and apologies if I missed one.)

Saw the play last night, and was a bit disappointed. Lithgow is in top-form, devouring the role of Dahl and very much playing the 'cat toying with a mouse' between charming to monster and back within seconds. And for an 80-year-old, he continues to challenge himself and create new and distinct characters whether on stage or film that blows my mind. He is indeed rive

Jamie Lloyd Much Ado Broadway Transfer

iluvtheatertrash said: "I really wanted to see this. But I have low vision needs and the seats that they're holding for people with low vision disabilities are priced at premium levels. I will never understand how a wheelchair accessible seat is discounted, but somebody who cannot see does not receive any discount. The ableism and double standard is astounding and insulting and disgraceful. I was really desperate to see this one, but I can't afford to and I'm not going to

Jamie Lloyd Much Ado Broadway Transfer

FYI -- the code for the Fan Pre-Sale is JLCADO, starts at 10am tomorrow 5/14 on Telecharge. (Public on-sale begins Friday.)

I can't find much about group sales and a few friends are quite excited - this is the first show I've planned this far in advance for in awhile. I hope it's as wonderful as the buzz suggests!

Paranormal Activity Ready to Spook Broadway

Saw it in D.C. and had a blast. The script has quibbles, but it's so tightly directed and illusions so brisk and jaw dropping, I had fun (and the just-about sold out house was gasping, screaming, and laughing.) Really fun seeing it with a crowd.

That being said: the tour venues have been small to mid-size; the Wilson is certainly a scale up, but I saw that the pre-Broadway Boston run is at the larger Emerson Colonial which is 3-levels and 1,700 seats. So any scale-up design-wis

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/10/26

Yes, Maya was out over the weekend at Oh, Mary! but was back last night (presuming she was sick.) Still an impressive haul with her being out for half of the performances.

I don't see Wicked closing anytime too soon, but $84 ATP?? Yikes. Must be some quiet papering / discounts floating around?

Curious if we'll see it appear at TKTS occasionally. (I feel like it'd clean up.)

Very Early 2026 Tony Winner Predictions

Very Early 2026 Tony Winner Predictions

While I presume the safe money would be on Joe Mantello for Best Director of a Play, I'd be quite overjoyed if Whitney White won her first Tony for Liberation. Mantello certainly has the momentum from the precursor awards so far (and did stellar work on Salesman IMO) but I presume White was eligible for all of those last year.

OH, MARY Reviews (2026 New)

Per social, Hannah is on for Mary Todd this afternoon at 5pm, no word yet on the 8:30pm. A few very reasonably priced seats got released -- she's *fantastic* if you haven't had a chance to catch her w the wonderful supporting cast on right now.

JOE TURNER'S COME AND GONE 2026 Previews

I have tickets for the end of next week and will report back - IMO I'd welcome a production of any of August Wilson's plays from The Century Cycle each season.

Briefly looking at ticket availability, I fear this one is getting lost in the large volume of plays this spring. (That and the prices are *VERY* high, but what isn't? I hope the Spring Sale on Telecharge helps spread WOM.)

The Sher production remains quite etched into my memory, and if I recall correc

OH, MARY Reviews (2026 New)

Per the show's Instagram - Maya Rudolph + the rest of the current administration have extended through July 5th!

Telecharge - 40% Spring Savings Sale Promotion

Wow. I've *never* seen Telecharge promote such a major discount directly on their web site --- over a dozen Broadway and Off-Broadway shows for mostly every performance through the show's current on-sale dates, including ChessTwo StrangersMaybe Happy Ending, The Outsiders and more

https://www.telecharge.com/ -- code is SPECIAL which I imagine they'd accept at a box office.

I'm generally as optimistic as possible, but this is not a good sign for the industry rn that Shubert is directly having a fire sale on so many shows.

EDIT: Sorry, it would've been more helpful if I just listed the shows:

Two Strangers (Carry a Cake)

Operation Mincemeat

Maybe Happy Ending

Beaches

Buena Vista Social Club

Joe Turner's Come and Gone

Chicago

The Outsiders

Chess

The Great Gatsby

Off-Broadway:

Jamie Allan's Amaze

Heathers

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Gazillion Bubble Show

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/3/26

Could definitely see that possibly playing out, especially if they can stunt cast Viola - announce Labor Day, see if the summer makes any notable increase. I feel like the major issue is just how expensive the show is (It's one of the rare recent musicals where you can truly see the money onstage w/sets, illusions and such a large cast.)

Another scenario - if it continues bleeding out gross wise, close it mid-summer and see if they can bring someone in for a concert residency. The

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 5/3/26

Re, long-running shows --- I believe I got an Instagram ad for Chicago promoting a Buy One Ticket / Get Another for $29 just for the month of May. All of the issues an earlier poster brought up I agree with + with the exception of Oh, Mary!, all theatre-related press is going to be focused on the Tony nominees. It's going to be a very rough few weeks for the long-runners.

And there's been a very steady and notable decline in Chess&n

Pulitzer Prize 2026

That's 100% definitely the ballpark number I had in mind.

And this spec will be more relevant at this time tomorrow --- but I wouldn't at all count out Whitney White winning her first Tony. Her body of work is lengthy and largely wonderful (Jaja's African Hair Braiding remains one of my favorite recent productions at MTC.)

Til tomorrow....! :-)

Pulitzer Prize 2026

A wonderful group of great work recognized this year IMO and I'm over the moon for Bess Wohl and Liberation! Even before today's announcement, I've had a strong hunch that there will be more Tony nominations than we expect for it tomorrow esp with the nominators recent trend of recognizing work from early in the season.

Am curious if Bowl or Cartozians might get an uptown transfer, either for an encore run at a Studio Seav

Ralph Fiennes, Colin Farrell, and Wagner Moura to star in film adaptation of ART

What a cast!

And if you haven't seen The Secret Agent, Moura is incredible and a talent I hadn't known of 'til that film. Worth a watch - it's streaming on Hulu/Disney+.

Presume Fiennes is Serge, Farrell is is Marc and Moura is Yvan?
