The Official TDF Thread Feb 27 2026, 02:33:46 PM
Chicago is up for the added 3/5 matinee performance and Two Strangers is back up for most performances the first two weeks of March.

A few key things stand out to me here:
- The play really isn't an adaptation of the (I lost count of how many, LOL) films in the franchise - it's very much 'in the spirit of', mainly the vibes of the first one. But you don't have to have seen any of the Paranormal Activity films at all to enjoy the play, IMO.
- I feel like the secret sauce here is that it's Levi Holloway collaborating with Felix Barrett of Punchdrunk, who brings&n

I certainly think so. The stage is tall enough and wide enough IMO and it's (an objectively gorgeous) unit set of four rooms over two-stories. It'd be a luxury get for the show if they landed that theater as I could totally see even the further back of the Mezz getting jolted by the illusions. Hoping that it happens!

Also throw Paranormal Activity into the mix - one post on a DC review thread I was part of mentioned it was coming in around the same time that Mirvish put up they'd be hosting a tour stop on social, then quickly took it down. (Toronto is close enough to NY that I could see them pulling regional rights.) Considering the great reviews / word of mouth / the commercial producers attached, I could def see it - just have no idea where, as the show IMO has more impact the mor

March trip - what do I need to get in advance? Feb 8 2026, 02:30:32 PM
Personal opinion, but I really don't see there being a bad seat in the Beaumont for Ragtime - the set pieces are wide and minimalist to a degree (without spoiling one or two surprising moments) and from my spot in the Orchestra 400s on the far side, I didn't miss a thing. The performers / staging certainly plays to the whole house.
Also IMO - if all you can find are extreme sides in the Orch, I actually sorta prefer the Front Loge for many LCT shows.&nb

OH, MARY Reviews (2026 New) Feb 7 2026, 05:37:58 PM
Took friends who hadn't yet seen it last night and we had a blast.
Echoing the sentiments thus far- JCM goes from 0 to 100 MPH from the start. There were laughs and deliveries of lines that I hadn't caught before --- this Mary is very much how her husband describes her early on as an agent of total chaos and it gives everyone's actions extra urgency. And (mild spoiler) JCM's descent from the desk was *fantastic* and rivals Betty Gilpin's, who remains my favorite. Th

March trip - what do I need to get in advance? Feb 7 2026, 05:29:51 PM
IMO - you don't need to book much in advance (though everything on your list is outstanding.)
For Spelling Bee and Heathers --- the digital rush on Telecharge's Lottery site is a great deal and I've seen both from excellent seats, if you end up having a free night. (Frankly, do try to keep a night or afternoon open for something you can snag a deal on via lottery / TodayTix rush / TDF.)
Keep an eye on Oh, Mary!&n

The Muppet Show (2026-) Dream Broadway Guest Stars Feb 6 2026, 02:12:39 PM
Ooooo, I adore this thread. (And based on how magical the one-off was this week, I *really* hope it gets picked up, haven't seen any ratings or streaming #'s yet.)
Echo all of the previously mentioned folks - some dream casting of my own:
- Sir Ian McKellan having a Shakespeare-off with Uncle Deadly would be the stuff of dreams, as well as a diva-duel with Miss Piggy. (This is also likely my still being *shook* by that monologue he did on Colbert the other evenin

PARANORMAL ACTIVITY @ Shakespeare Theatre DC Feb 4 2026, 05:48:34 PM
Echoing some posts from other cities + many of the critics' reviews - the play is a blast. Went with some friends to the D.C. stop of the tour last Sunday evening and laughed and screamed with a very engaged and full house. (Also had never been to Harman Hall at STC - lovely venue with great sightlines and lots of nice pre-show and intermission spots to lounge.)
As has been written - the show really doesn't need to be called Paranormal Activity as it doesn

Broadway needs to open the doors earlier Feb 4 2026, 04:34:56 PM
Agreed - it does make for a more relaxing experience, especially with the price of tickets.
There's sorta no cut and dry answer for most Broadway shows, for many of the reasons well articulated earlier in the thread (additional costs for staffing, technical prep for many shows - I know Cursed Child has lengthy pre-performance fight calls, which are quite critical for the safety of everyone onstage and off.)
And then there's the practical matter of space - N

OH, MARY! Reviews Jul 5 2025, 03:03:10 PM
Just saw on Insta that Hannah is indeed on for Mary at both performances today. I'm sure it's been said earlier in the thread, but having finally seen Hannah this past Wednesday eve, their performance is *FANTASTIC*. I hope Tituss gets better and is back soon, but if you have tix for today, you're in great hands w/Hannah and the whole rest of the ensemble, all of whom were equally on fire earlier this week!

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 2/1/26 Feb 3 2026, 02:02:40 PM
Nice to see Liberation go out on a high note in terms of both gross and attendance. Shame it didn't catch on, but I applaud the producers for bringing it uptown to a wider audience. Curious to see how it plays during awards season (I'd imagine deservedly very strongly) --- I'm presuming it's a front-runner to at least be a finalist, if not outright winner, for this year's Pulitzer?
I feel like the buzz for Oh, Mary! will c

Rocky Horror Show Revival Cast Jan 28 2026, 02:26:03 PM
There's *no way* this is happening, but just fan casting --- Matt Berry would be such a brilliant Narrator. I can almost hear his delivery of the lines and esp. based on What We Do in the Shadows he can play camp so, so well. Maybe one day down the line.
Regardless --- excited to see the full cast. Lots of potential (and regardless, I'm quite looking forward to seeing this production!)

Snow Storm This Weekend Jan 23 2026, 04:35:13 PM
I know some regional theatres have already started canceling / rescheduling, and here in DC the Mayor has a State of Emergency from mid-day tomorrow 'til early Tuesday. But truly, it's gonna be up in the air what actually happen.
Echoing an earlier poster - def check here + the show's individual social media accounts for snow-deals.
If you're traveling into town and it gets delayed / canceled, call your point of purchase and see if you can at least reschedu

Mexodus News? Jan 15 2026, 04:54:54 PM
Considering how past music-focused shows have successfully performed at the Daryl Roth --- whether the non-traditional De La Guarda and Fuerza Bruta --- to Sandra Bernhard's concert residency and even In and of Itself where music played a subtle but important role --- I think it's a fine choice for any show where sound/acoustics are a major element.
And depending on the stage configuration, if it catches on and moves 300-

Just in Time - Matt Morrison? Jan 12 2026, 06:19:59 PM
It also appears they last day available for group sales is March 15th, which I believe is a significant rollback (and usually a sign that a show is wrapping up.)
Regardless - a fantastic run and proof that Groff is a box office draw in the right show.
Curious if anything will jump into Circle last minute to close out the season....

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/16/25 Nov 18 2025, 03:51:21 PM
Also surprised at the Cursed Child surge.
And very impressed that Oedipus did $850k in a week with press comps / opening. Well done!

Broadway Grosses: Week Ending 11/2/25 Nov 4 2025, 02:29:01 PM
Agreed -- Halloween, especially falling on a Friday and rolling into the weekend, certainly would have an impact.
Oedipus quite strong out of the gate, just shy of $500k for 4 performances.
Love the momentum continuing for Chess and Ragtime.
And ouch, Rob Lake and The (?) Muppets.......going this weekend, and I don't wish failure on anyone but a $31k take per show for a 7 performance week seems like a disast

2025-2026 Broadway Season Nov 3 2025, 02:10:35 PM
Would *love* to see a MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO transfer, but that's mostly superfan speak on my part ---- the economics of putting it up here would be daunting / marketing might be a challenge stateside.
Even in a play-heavy season, MUCH ADO would be a treat of a transfer.
Or perhaps the Cranston/Jean-Baptiste ALL MY SONS?

From Chicago to NYC: Steppenwolf's Broadway Boom Nov 1 2025, 11:42:35 AM
Very nice piece --- I believe Steppenwolf quite deservedly won the Regional Theatre Tony Award awhile back, but for a non-profit to persevere throughout the past decades *and* consistently present great work, they should very much be celebrated.
Well done, BWW Editorial. This round-up reminded me of many of my favorite shows that got their start at Steppenwolf:

(Still shaken by the original production of "Bug", btw / eagerly awaiting the new production at MTC in a few weeks....)
