I am curious about other people's experiences buying opening night tickets without connections in the industry, specifically from Roundabout Theater Company or other Broadway non-profits. The fact opening night tickets are very exclusive is not lost on me, there is no guarantee the theater has to sell these tickets to the general public, but I do have to ask
For context, I happened to have slot in my trip open for what is the opening night of Rocky Horror. As a huge Rocky Horror fan, I felt like I have to try and go, even as I know opening night for shows almost never differ from a standard performance. Still, which Broadway fan doesn't have going to opening night on their bucket list? So two birds, one stone. I also lurked on the different threads to see what is the best way to score opening tickets. Using that, once tickets went on sale to the public, I refreshed the ticket page everyday
Up until today, opening night was not listed, however that changed this morning, now being up but being sold out. I am aware theaters sometime hold back tickets to release later, but opening night might be the exception. Is it worth it to keep an eye on it? Or should I abandon these lofty expections and just try to come back to New York before Rocky Horror closes?
