Amazing. Like...completely phenomenal. The fact that she wasn't nominated for a Tony for that performance baffles me.

I know! And it makes me sad when Rosie says at the end, "I predict you're gonna be nominated for a Tony."
And she didn't. It sucks.

Would she have been considered Leading or Featured?
Sorry, I'm not very familiar with the musical.

No, because there is no way you could defeat the powerful Ephalba she would create. She'd eat that little girl for breakfast.
And her little dog as well.

JESUS!
This woman is PHENOMENAL.
Very few Broadway belters have lungs of STEEL like Orfeh. The only other one I can come up with off the top of my head is LaChanze, but Orfeh's attendance record trumps LaChanze easily.
Orfeh is a true Broadway star.
Someone write a musical for this woman!

I'm sorry but Orfeh is totally new to me so forgive me if I offend anyone. It seems that she would fit into the rock genre more than musical theatre. Her intensity is dark and reminds of someone like Bruce Springsteen with a monotone, same tone, whatever thing.
She definitely is talented. What is she doing these days??

She is playing Paulette eight times a week in LEGALLY BLONDE, a performance for which she received a Tony Nomination.

Though I'd prefer to see Orfeh continue to create new roles (rather than replace and be the 100th Elphaba) I have to say, I'd DIE to see her play Eva in a revival of Evita. That said, it'd actually be most pleasing to me if her album went on to get the attention that it deserves, and for her to be a huge success in the music world. The songs she writes combined with her powerhouse voice are a combination that should recieve a lot of recognition.

I *love* Orfeh, but honestly right now if there was anyone (from Blonde) who I would want to see as Elphaba it would be Kate Shindle.

I just realized:
A revival of EVITA.
It's probably been mentioned before, but how perfect would she be as Eva Peron?
She could handle that score eight times a week.

Wanna Be A Foster, I've thought about her as Eva Peron quite a bit since I became a fan of hers. She'd be completely brilliant and would undoubtedly win her first Tony for that performance (finally).
And I agree, she's one of the few actresses who would handle that score eight times a week and probably still maintain a spotless attendance record.

If y'all haven't already, you should buy tickets to her solo show at Feinstein's -- it's a long way off still (June 2nd), but it's already selling really fast, from what I've heard!

And add me to the looong list of people who think she'd be RIDIC FIERCE in Evita.

Musefanme, Orfeh was the lead singer in a rock band before she tried to break into Broadway. If my memory serves me correctly....

And to boot, I don't think she gets enough credit for creating such a wonderful, fun, funky character in "Legally Blonde." She is playing a character totally different from the movie version of Jennifer Coolidge and personally, I think she brings so much more to the role. I saw the movie again a few nights ago. Totally delicious. Reese Witherspoon is so adorable and I keep forgetting Linda Cardinelli from "ER" and "Scoobie Doo" plays Chutney Wyndam. There's another wonderful chameleon.

allofmylife, Orfeh was actually one half of the r&b/dance group Or-N-More, not in a rock band... The second youtube link in the first post is one of their music videos. Here's one for their hit song, "Everyotherday" --

Just to gloat, I've been saying Orfeh should play Eva Peron for what now, 3 years?! As for "monotone Bruce Springsteen" musefanme, you must never have heard Orfeh sing because she has a range people would kill for and used every bit of it in Love, Janis, the only time she's ever really done the rock genre. Are we allowed to post links to you tube here? I love this thread but I'm just waiting for the usual 5 posters who "defecate" on all things Orfeh related every chance they get, to screw it up and get it deleted.

I wish there were some press clips from Love, Janis somewhere, I'd love to hear her on that score. I bet she was amazing.

Orfeh was ROBBED a nomination that year as was Sherie Rene Scott. This has been discussed to death on this board for years. Seeing that clip just reaffirms how off the committee can be sometimes. Orfeh could do Evita in her sleep and be just about the only person I can think of to give Lupone a run for her money.

I LOVE those clips and was baffled (we all were) when she didn't get nominated for SNF. It's sad they took their hatred for the show out on someone who didn't deserve it. Allofmylife, I think she got all the credit there was to get for her Paulette portrayal from where it matters period. Three nods and glowing reviews on both coasts counts a helluvalot more than what a miniscule number of message board posters have to say. I'd personally rather see Orfeh do more film and plays.

That would be fantastic. She doesn't get enough credit for her acting.
