There is a picture of the Broadway "Little Mermaid" poster and it IS official! It looks brighter than the poster that we have all seen. They just added a little "sparkle" to it!

It looks exactly the same.

That's because they created it with Flash. Something tells me the posters on Broadway won't be Flash compatible.

They hoped to be impressed by originality.

I think it's unattractive. Lion King, Beauty and the Beast (original with just a plain black background), and Tarzan each have great logos. Mary Poppins is a toss up, depending on how they place things. At least those were original and interesting...this is just too bland for me.

Thats true... Comparatively, I do prefer Tarzan and Lion King. I don't think Beauty and the Beast's new poster is anything to shake a stick at, but their original one was absolutely fantastic.

Here's to hoping they improve upon it, although I do enjoy the simplicity, as I stated above.

Also, here's to hoping that the show is better than the poster... a.k.a. the opposite of Tarzan. I'd rather stare at the souvenir program for 2 hours than watch the show again...

I dunno, It does sorta look like the colors are brighter somehow, it may just be my imagination.

a broadway poster does not a great or bad musical make.
stop judging a "book" by it's "cover".
people on this board get themselves twisted over the oddest things...
maybe you should all concern yourselves if the show itself is going to be any good at all.

I think the logo is unattractive...If I am not mistaken, neither the words 'show,' 'production' or 'musical' appear in that sentence. I think there may have been only one person on this thread who said something about the SHOW (it was implied).

Maybe we want to discuss its ugliness. A logo can have an impact on what the public perceives, so I think it's a worthy subject for discussion.

Even after all the things that have been said on "Little Mermaid" I am really looking forward to seeing it, I really hope it's going to be really good. I love the movie and all the music numbers in it I hope they are going to add some extra songs for the stage..I really hope it will make it to London!

It's quite plain, but like the Tarzan, Mary Poppins, Lion King, and BATB designs, it's totally vector based. That makes is terrifically easy to export and stamp on a million pieces of merchandise. And there you have the entire reasoning behind the design process.

I'm still trying to figure out what's worse. The fact that this crap is taking up a house on Broadway for God knows how long, or there are people actually discussing ad nauseum the poster for such said crap.
