I was watching the Behind The Scenes features of Show Business, and Eugene Lee mentioned that there was an original scenic designer of Wicked who was fired.
Anyone know who it was?
Anyone would have been an improvement over Lee's design.
Yes, Lee did win the Tony. Ok, where can I see or get the DVD of the WICKED DOCUMENTARY? I have not been able to find it anywhere and so want to watch it.

Did you see any of his designs?? Do divulge!!1 <3
lol...no i didn't, but he is the one that designed dorothy's crashed-house and cornstalks...eugene stole that, and a bunch of other things.

Interesting since he ended up designing The Wiz.
What were the other things that Eugene stole?
How did he steal them if Eugene never saw the original design?
I like some of the Wicked set. A lot of it's quite boring though...
dramarama any progress?

boring? everyone is entitled to their opinion lol, but I must have seen another show...
BrianIdol...
That makes sense now. I always thought Dorothy's house looked different from the rest of the set.
Oh BrianIdol,
I didn't realize we had another Set Designer around these parts.

Yeah, I was always wondering, "How did that piece of crap get in there?".
I love the wicked set design, especially matched with the lighting. I don't they're boring in anyway.
the house is not a "piece of crap"....that scene is one of the more beautiful images on stage during the whole show, imo. Robert Brill is one of the most talented set designers of our time...if anyone has scene his set for The Wiz, i'm sure you'd agree.
I wonder why they let him go?
Original scenic designer or not, I'd be a little more careful in using broad statements like "crap" and "boring" for Brill or Lee's work:

Yup, I agree. He's quite ingenous. The Wiz set was very imaginative. The stage was round and scene starts with this set. Clothesline infront of the house with just a roof and base only. The walls are imaginary so people can see the staging inside the house. As the tornado hits the farm, the roof spins and goes up to the ceiling. Instead of sliding from the sides, all other sets are lowered from the top of the ceiling to the center of the stage.
exactly! Lee and Brill are both extremely talented...and whoever designed what for Wicked, it's certainly not boring. ....
..go see YF for boring scenery (except the lab)

I just found this image and doesn't it remind you of the Ursala bubble thing from TLM.

The house and cornstalks in Wicked are one of my favorite parts of the set; I think they look amazing against the red backdrop.
