(no, it's too easy.)

Shuffle Along closed because they could not replace Audra McDonald in the eyes of ticket buyers, despite having announced that the incredibly talented but far less well known Rhiannon Giddens would be the replacement.

While I of course loved Anthony (saw him 3 times), I loved Jonathan Case (currently in the West End) as much, if not a little more. The role of Scorpius is the best written character in the show. There will be many great portrayals of the role. Albus is the trickier one and Sam Clemmett did such an amazing job making a slightly unlikeable character on paper into one of the most sympathetic in the whole canon of Harry Potter. The same cannot be said for the current West End Albus.

That’s one theory
mine is that it wasn’t a good show

Stars that could never be topped...
Hmm let's see... I'm guessing that would knock out Nathan Lane, Alan Cumming and Joel Grey for a start...

I’m surprised no one has mentioned Robert Preston in The Music Man or Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady or Yul Brynner in The King & I. Of course, the original Broadway runs were long ago & maybe not many people here saw them. I didn’t. But we do have the movie performances.
I’ve seen quite a few Music Man revivals with good Harold Hills, but never one who quite had what Preston had.
Up until I saw the current revival I would have said the same thing about Harrison in My Fair Lady. But I’ve seen Hadden-Paton twice now as Higgins and I think he’s just fantastic. I think he’s grown in the role and, especially the second time I saw him, I didn’t think about Harrison once.
I can’t comment on King & I since I haven’t seen any revivals to compare those Kings with Brynner.

I thought that Ben Platt could never be topped but according to his recent music videos, Charlie Carver topped him

Although it seems Bernadette Peters is making the last half of her career taking on the great roles of Ethel Merman being Annie Get Your Gun, Gypsy, and finally Hello Dolly there really was no other besides Bernadette who could have topped Merman! Whats left is Call Me Madam and that was done recently by Encores, but don't hold your breath if Bernadette does that one too.

"I think Nathan Lane as Max Bialystock comes close to being truly irreplaceable"
I agree, that show was not the same without him and they had to bring him back to revive the show for awhile.
