I'm glad to hear MTV is owning up to being premature (aka WRONG).
Frankly, if I have to hear that Kelly Osbourne is going to louse up Hairspray, I want to hear it from Gideon Yago, but I'd prefer he whisper it post-coitally, just before he turns into a pizza....

thats a good way to get inside, walk by the crowd of teenie boppers while the show is in progress :)
I am going to call her agent and suggest she audition on TRL!!
That way, SHE gets to audition, and I get to look at all the cute MTV vj's!!!

OMG! Talk about classic TV. That would beat out the fist epsisodes of American Idol. Can we have the entire creative team make wise-ass comments?

Hey, I know a lot of you are saying that it is unlikely that Kelly Osbourne will star in Hairspray, and it probably is. But what LilMiZBroADwaY23 said is true. During TRL's MTV News segment, Kelly Osbourne looked straight into the camera and said that she will be starring in Broadway's Hairspray at the end of this summer. The man who reported the news then took a couple of seconds to explain to the viewing audience what Hairspray is about.
So, yes, it is very likely that Kelly could be lying or that she is only thinking about doing the show or in talks to do it and nothing has yet been confirmed. But she did say that she was doing the show. But like many of you have been saying, she could be talking out of her butt.
I could see her playing the part. Maybe I am the only one. I don't know about being able to sing it or not having an accent though.

Em-LEE, we just got confirmation that Kelly was a bit "premature" in saying she was cast.
And dearest Marc, I am sorry for reporting the wrong news. But I would definitley approve Beav's idea for a Broadway American Idol. All I can say is.. brilliant!
I am scared for the summer of hairspray!!!!
That would be great marc! You watching Kelly audition on trl!!!! Ahh man all those teeny boppers! I can oicture it now!
I'm glad they stooped to this level. I hope others loose respect for this shlop the same way I lost respect for it having just listened to the songs.
Who knows - maybe she would make a great Tracy but honestly I'm glad it's not happening. I don't really care one way or another when it comes to Kelly Osbourne. But I am so sick of stunt casting so I'm relieved. I understand that it helps the box office and sometimes it actually works. But I love Hairspray - it's brilliant and stands on it's own regardless of who is in it. I wonder if Natalie Joy Johnson ever auditioned for the role of Tracy - she could be great!
Anyway - thanks Mr. Shaiman for clearing everything up!
i would love her as tracy. even if she cant sing. a friend has her cd its impossible to listen to.

send you to ny for what? audition? see the show? i need to know what my money is going to dammnit.
MTV/Bravo should do a reality show starring Kelly Osbourne and Marc Shaiman, they could call it, The Road to Turnblad.
This thread cracks my sh*t up.
Can she sing....lyrically???????? I know she can tell people to "shut up" and yell the lyrics to "papa don't preach". On the flip side she does have her figure.
Ugh! All though I do think that Broadway should keep up with the style of the time I do not think that pop stars should be on broadway just to sell tickets unless the show is in SERIOUS trouble. I mean that is EXTREMELY desperate. I can never ever seen Kelly as Tracy.
Just imagine her singing: I Can Hear the Bells or Good Morning Baltimore! I cringe just thinking about it!
I don't think Osbourne is that bad of a singer.
