Any opinions? I've heard great things about both but can only fit one into my trip. I'm a Rickman fan, but if Other Desert Cities is an overall better production/experience, I'll gladly go for it.
Thanks for your help!
While I haven't seen Seminar yet, I did see Desert Cities twice in one week because I enjoyed it so much. I think it's absolutely worth seeing.

OTHER DESERT CITIES and don't read anything about it. Hope you get to see the play!
I enjoyed both, but I preferred Other Desert Cities.
Seminar. Other Desert Cities is your standard family drama and is severely overrated. The acting in Seminar is exquisite.

Thanks for your help! Went with Other Desert Cities and saw the Friday matinee. Stockard Channing was out, she came back later that night. While I wish I was able to see her, Lauren Klein blew me away as did the show! First on my list of what to see the next time we make up to the city. Hoping this cast stays in for a while. Thrilling piece of theatre that I need to share with the rest of my family.
Seminar was much more unique and engaging to me. Also loved all the acting much more than ODC.

Hey everyone. Sorry to revive an old thread, but figured I'd see if there were any new opinions if more people had the chance to see both of these shows. I make it to NY once a year and am heading there in January. Already have tix for Book of Mormon, War Horse, How to Succeed, and On A Clear Day (bought them when they first went on sale before the reviews, so kind of stuck but going in with an open mind). For my last slot, Id like to see either Seminar or Other Desert Cities. Any advice? Seminar does have a discount code which makes it $74 cheaper for a pair of seats, but that wouldn't necessarily make my decision. Thanks in advance!

SEMINAR was really a waste of my time. The only thing I can say that was good about it was Lily Rabe (who I generally can't stand) and finally getting to see hunkalicious Jerry O'Connell on stage. If you're going to see Rickman I'm afraid you'll be severely disappointed since (as good of an actor as he is) he does absolutely nothing with it.
DESERT CITIES on the other hand, was thrilling. Definitely the best play so far this year and I'm sure it's a shoo-in for the Tony.
OTHER DESERT CITIES is one of the best plays written in the past decade, in my opinion. It would be foolish to pass this one up.
Neither are particularly great. I guess if I had to see another one again, it'd be Other Desert Cities.
I haven't seen Seminar (though I hope to as Lily Rabe and Hamish Linklater are the main draws for me), so I can't compare the two shows. I saw Other Desert Cities over the Thanksgiving holidays and it's amazing, easily one of the best plays I've ever seen. It's really an ensemble piece and all of the actors are great in their roles, not a weak link in the cast. Rachel Griffiths is giving one helluva performance. Don't miss Other Desert Cities!
Even if 'Other Desert Cities' was rubbish, you have to say it'd a great show title.

Thanks everyone for the input. Rickman was my main interest in Seminar. I can't say I was too familiar with Lily Rabe before, but now that I have seen her on American Horror Story, she'd be great to see live. And I do have a soft spot for Mr. O'Connell as well. But after all the opinions, I pulled the trigger on Other Desert Cities tickets last night - looking forward to it! And still holding out hope that I will also enjoy On A Clear Day.
