She has a nice alto voice. I've always thought she would be a good Amneris.
Jessica Biel - Marry the Man Today
I think Amneris is too much of a belting part for her. I mean, it's not Evita or Elphaba, but the end of Every Story.. and Strongest Suit may not sound right from her.
The best she can do on trying to belt a higher note is to mix it.
I could see her joining the multitudes of Sally Bowles.

Biel played Candela in two readings of WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN.
Anything that doesn't require her to sing.
I think she could handle some belty roles. Guys & Dolls proved that her upper register wasn't her strong suit. It's kind of unfortunate that Sarah Brown was her first major theater role because it really didn't fit her voice.
I wonder if she was able to handle the patter of MODEL BEHAVIOR? It's hard to imagine anyone in that role besides Benanti.
Biel sings on Leno:

Nice. Tracey in High Society, Katie in A Tree Grows in Brooklyn.
And while I think there are much better choices, she could easily be shortlisted for Sally Bowles and The Baker's Wife, both Sondheim's and Schwartz's.

If Molly Ringwald can do Sally Bowles, Jessica can.
She also sang in the movie, Easy Virtue, but it was mostly low alto stuff.
She could sing Rose in Bye Bye Birdie, Charity in Sweet Charity, Ella in Bells are Ringing.
Another issue would be developing a character and acting as the character throughout the show. She hasn't had that many chances to do different types of characters.

I could see her as Christine Colgate in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
