Thanks Rent Boy. I've seen their names around here but I haven't seen those shows as yet so I didn't know them.
this all seems somewhat political to me. Tony voters love their legends. someone wise told me that. and it could be the case with a lot of the voters for these awards.
then again who knows... I personally may not have a shot at all at anything because people are assuming I lipsynch my songs - American Theater Web even SAID that in a review. That's a critic!! Are the voters for these awards just going to assume the same thing?
as for Mano - I think this is CRAZY - it's a travesty that he isn't nominated for this award. I don't understand.

I don't get what the buzz is about for Mano... I'm sure he's an outstanding actor, but obviously, they chose some other actors. Deal with it! At least it's not the Tony's that was announced.
Anyways, I'm happy WiW got so many nominations!

Congrats to Woman In White. Especially Michael Ball. Great as Count Fosco.
Nicely done, nominating Christian Hoff, who is giving a phenominal performance in "JB".
What happened to Bob Martin?
What happened to Sutton?
Guys, a little perspective: This is the Outer Critics Circle. They have continuously made some very odd choices and very little of what they nominate/award matches up with the Tony Awards.
Also, notice that they include Off-Broadway mostly with Broadway nominations.
This has so little bearing on the Tony Awards.
Good point, bway.
(BTW, what about [title of show]?)

WEDDING SINGER and DROWSY haven't opened yet. That's why for those.
Actually, Drowsy hasnt opened but did get a few nominations, including Beth Leavel as sup. actress. I am surprised that Bob Martin didnt get Hugh's spot in the nominations.
It states at the bottom of the nominations page that Tarzan is not eligible (because the producers are keeping the press out, right?) so I assume that Wedding Singer was simply shut out.
Dont bother worrying about these nominations. They truly are often wacky and dont necessarily reflect anything regarding Tony chances. I dont understand Manoel being left out, but I think Ken Jennings deserved a Tony nom in 1979 I actually think that the way ST is directed, that Mano deserves a best actor nod along with Cerveris.

"dont bother worrying"?
Seriously, it's an AWARD, who in their right mind would worry about it?
Enough of the silliness - who do you think will win? I'm interested in Of-Broadway and plays. Musicals don't do that much for me. What will get these do you think? My money's on Stuff Happens for one, or is it debarred by its politics?

I think Christian Hoff deserves the award far more than Jim Dale was...I wasn't impressed with Dale's performance.
The OCC's nominations are almost always off from what the Tony's nominations will be, especially in the acting categories, and considering that the OCC's recognize Off-Broadway, too.
Don't worry about Mano's lack of a nomination, I would bet that he'll snag one at the Tony's - if not over Jim Dale.

I am shocked to see Michael Ball and Hugh Panaro's name on the list. And I'm THRILLED to see Peter Beson and Christian Hoff's name on the list.
Don't expect Hugh to be among the nominees at the Tonys.
Again, people, this is the Outer Critics nominations. Peruse their history, you'll see a lot of choices in stark contrast to the Tonys and Drama Desks.
Quite true.
Panaro will not receive a Tony nomination, nor does he deserve too.
I would say Manoel will still grab one.
I think Jim Dale is probably the only sure thing from THREEPENNY to get a Tony nom. He's had a very long, respected theatre career; he could even win it...
The OCC and Drama Desk awards do vary from the Tonys, but they do on some level play like the "precursor" awards for the Oscars - in the sense that often times they create the "favorites" going into the Tony race. They don't always match up, of course, but most people who win a Tony award historically do win a OCC or a Drama Desk award first.

I was also really hoping for Gay Marshall to get nominated...oh, well.
Jacques Brel and several other highly-approved off-Broadway shows have been ignored this year. I thought [title of] Show (god, did I just botch the title of that?) was really well-received and I thought it'd snag a lot more nominations, but even the Lortells were cold to it.

Mister Singer,
Mister Wilson didn't get a nod for his phenominally hysterical performance in "Barefoot in the Park." Does this award really usually not line up with the Tonys? Then he's still got a shot?
What about the Drama Desk Awards (nominations are later this week, right?)

They generally do not line up with the Tony's, but regardless, Patrick Wilson doesn't have much of a chance at a nomination. He's fine in the role, but certainly not greater than his competition.
BAREFOOT's only chance at Tony nominations may be Jill Clayburgh or Tony Roberts in the featured categories, set design of a play, or costume design of a play - but even those are slim.
What Munk said, Beacon. Unfortunately, Brantley skewered Patrick didn't he? Frankly, the big reviewers' opinions often line up with the Tony nominations MUCH moreso than the other awards, although the winners are still anyone's guess.
There are hardly any true, bona-fide frontrunners in any category this year, although there are certain nominees I'd think are a lock.
I, personally, forsee a LOT of surprises come Tony nominations AND even more at the actual awards ceremony.
