I was at the IFC Center today, and they just released their new brochure/pamphlet of upcoming films that will be playing there, and one of the films touted is PASSING STRANGE, followed by "Opens Friday August 21"

I'm SO excited!! (For those who have seen the film already... How do they work in the backstage stuff with the actual show? The description of it being a documentary of the last show on Bwy always confuses me.)

There is very minimal backstage footage. At the beginning they show some people waiting to get into the theater. During intermission there are a few quick clips of Stew and others and their dressing rooms. 99% of the movie is the actual show.

I've seen the film.

And it's wonderful. A little slow here and there, and, like most filmings of stage musicals, some of the magic is lost, but it's a very great record of a very great show.

I've seen the film and it is great. I think it will be even better at IFC. I saw the trailer yesterday and it is HOT. I think the bigger screen and better sound will really make the show come alive.

BTW: The film currently at IFC -- In the Loop --- is a must see!
