I'm just tossing it around in my head...
Wouldn't it be utterly brilliant to tape it, broadcast it, and release it on DVD for the masses to revel in?
Seriously!

Yeah, we SCARYOTYPES would love that! BTW, I hope somehow their mktg. dept. will adopt you "mantra"....FEEL THE LOVE, etc.
(They had an audience survey co. there this past week)...I think they may change the mktg soon, depending on what the "target" audience seems to be.

Well, if this isn't a misleading thread title!
#6re: PBS Great Performances: PASSING STRANGE
Posted: 4/15/08 at 12:27amIt seems like every five seconds, people want another show to be filmed by Great Performances.

Let's do it!
That would be excellent, albeit a little bit outside of PBS's comfort zone.
Great idea Mike!

Thank you, thank you...
I would give anything and everything for the opportunity to get this project off the ground. Truly, I would.

Yeah, they should definitely hire YOU, Mike, instead of those boring doofus MBA Grads who know nothing about theatrical marketing. Never give your ideas or talent away for free! First lesson in show business.

Awwwwh! Thank you so very much!
By all means, feel free to give out my contact info to "the suits" at the Belasco. I'll wait for their offer. Hee!

Great idea. Unfortunately, PBS doesn't film any of those Great Performances shows they air -- private companies do. PBS only airs them.
Find an investor and you got yourself a deal. I'm sure PBS will GLADLY air it on Great Performances, just as long as you get the funds to film it.

"It seems like every five seconds, people want another show to be filmed by Great Performances."
Can you blame them though?
With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-
"Not Barker, Todd is the only person I've ever known who could imitate Katherine Hepburn...in print." -nmartin-

Rather than getting it on PBS, I wish they'd figure out a way to get the grosses up.
Are there any ads running in non-traditional places like rock and roll radio stations or Spin Mag or something where the fan base will see it?
To me that is the important thing. They cannot be making money and reserve funds can run out.

Posted: 4/15/08 at 4:47pmMaybe it should just close, or move to the smaller Off-Bway theatre that it should have been in all along.

The Belasco, while a beautiful house, is one that does not have a good history re housing hits.
We see it on Saturday night.

Posted: 4/15/08 at 8:45pmI do feel like I see a lot of advertising for Passing Strange - on Billboards and Bus stops. I haven't seen as much advertising as I have for Gypsy though - She's on every bus in Midtown!

Hope they get their grosses up! Scary last week...ugh.
