I would *love* to see Katie Clark and David Burnham.
could you expand? any websites or dateS?
I would imagine this would be a fairly limited tour - it doesn't seem like it would have enormous mainstream appeal

From the press release:
"Direct from Broadway, the romantic new musical THE LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA will continue to win hearts across North America when it begins a 50-week North American Tour premiering August 2006 and visiting more than 25 cities, including Seattle, Denver, Orlando, Miami, Raleigh (NC), Hershey (PA), Portland, Costa Mesa, Tempe (AZ) and Sacramento. A complete tour schedule will be announced shortly."
Come to Boston!

I had the same thought. I was surprised Sacramento was on the list.
If anyone was in doubt about the existance of a God, the fact that Raleigh, NC is one the list is PROOF that he exists.
Thank you and goodnight!

oh, and do you have the link?
Its being produced by NETworks, which does mostly non Equity tours - and a few low paying Equity ones - I wonder if they will really be able to get many of the Broadway cast to sign on for it...

Well, they convinced Maureen McGovern...

Don't expect Ms.Clark to reprise her role on the tour, if she is doing 6 shows a week to be with her son, then I doubt she's going to tour the nation and leave him in the city. I don't know how I'd feel about anyone who is not Clark playing this role, but I felt the same about Kelly O'Hara and Katie Clarke is amazing as Clara. People have said that Piazza does not appeal to masses since it was announced for Broadway, yet it has outrun and done better than many shows that were more likely to appeal to audiences, so I think it's unfair to underestimate it.
Yay for tours. I just got the OBCR, and I'd like to see it onstage.
Well Patti Cohener has played the role many, many times - maybe she'll do the tour or maybe they'll get a name like Joyce DeWitt!

Can I get an Amen??
The fact that NETworks is producing is intriguing... If they do a non-eq tour, none of the current cast will be included. Maybe I'll have a shot at Clara after all!
Yayyyyyy! I can't wait to see the cast.
How lovely that it's making a return to Seattle, where the first full scale production was mounted.

This is great news. Now this beautiful piece can be shared with even more people across the US.

Yaaaaaaay Costa Mesa!
But now my mom and I are debating...I see one big show a year and that's it.
"Would you rather see that instead of Les Miz?"
"I'd like to see it, but I definitely don't wanna miss Les Miz. Besides, I'm paying for most of the costs that go to Les Miz tickets. And David's paying for half of his ticket."
"How about crazy Molly?" (This is a person we know who is really stubborn and untrusting but nice at the same time...who wants to see it)
"..."
"Well?"
"No!"

So, my question is this: With this tour going out in August, is there any chance that there will be a NYC Bway production of Piazza going on at the same time, keeping most of the current cast, thereby requiring a whole new cast for the tour??? I realize they will have to move out of LTC for the incoming show, but has there been any talk of moving it to another theatre . . . or is this summer going to be the end for Piazza in NYC?
This is great news! I was fortunate enough to see the show in NYC and look forward to seeing it on tour.
