I was at the first preview last night at the Music Box Theatre.
As a production, I love it just as much as I first saw it in Boston. I have 2 concerns however: the acrobats are a bit too much for me that almost took over the entire show and none of the cast impressed me vocally. Still, it is my favorite to win the Best Revival of a musical in June.
My favorites in the show: Andrea Martin (will win Tony for Best Featured Actress); Patina Miller, Terrence Mann, Set Design (Scott Pask), Lighting Design (Kenneth Posner), Choreography (Chet Walker in the style of Bob Fosse) and Direction (Diane Paulus).
Definitely see this show!
WHY, why couldn't you just put your thoughts in the already established Pippin preview thread?

I don't post on anybody's thread. That's just me.
Then you entirely miss the purpose of a discussion board.

No I don't. I'm just interested in what anybody has to say.

No, what this really means is that you want to know what everyone thinks about what you have to say.
If you cared about others thoughts, you join in on the already established conversation.

On the Veterinary Information Network, which is much less entertaining than this forum, the moderators merge the threads about same topics. Maybe we should ask our mods to step up!
I knew we were behind the veterinarians!
Arguments about thread decorum aside, I think Fosse's PIPPIN always threatened to overwhelm the material with production and staging.
It is an undergraduate show, after all. Which is not to say I don't love it. I do. But had it been produced 10 years earlier, I suspect the reviews would have read, "What is this amateur show doing on Broadway?" (Come to think of it: didn't the reviews say basically that, leaving Stuart Ostrow to sell the show at first with a killer TV commercial?)

Well I'm just being the critic that I am. You can read/comment on my posts or not. Your call.

The mods will never merge the threads, GatorNY. If Ato2 feels s/he is above posting on anyone else's threads, let's simply not post on this one again, and let it drop off the page.
Did anyone else watch the DVD or BD of Les Miz this weekend?
And which version did you all buy? Target, Best Buy, Amazon, or another?
I did Taz. I was doing my grocery shopping at the Stop and Shop, so I picked up that version. It was decent.
I must say that I enjoyed the heck out if it much more on second (and third) viewing. I began to appreciate Hooper's direction more.
I concur Taz.
Having never read the novel, I was also surprised to learn that Gavroche is Eponine's brother in the book.
Additionally, there are two other Thenandier kids but they don't have a significant role in the action.
I never knew that. I figured that one who carried him after his death was his brother.
That's what I thought too! I forget where I read that...maybe imdb?
ETA:
Yes, it was imdb
Gavroche is actually Éponine's younger brother in the novel. Thenardiers also have another daughter Azelma and two youngest unnamed sons.

In the book the Thenardier's two sons are given (or sold, can't remember which) to a woman, who once knew M. Gillenormand (Marius' grandfather). She passes them off as her own kids and makes him pay child support, but then one day the police come for her and the kids are on their own. They run into Gavroche, who helps to shelter them and get them started for a life on the streets. So they're not plot significant, but I think it's funny how connected they are to major characters.

See, I thought the couple's name was "Nardier" and people were calling them "The Nardiers."
They were in the Bible class together and their moms used to carpool.
