They should really get Usher a/k/a Ben Vereen, Jr. for the role of the "Leading Player". It just makes sense. He can sing, he can dance and he has a huge fan base. That's what producers like Zadan/Meron look for to ensure box office success.
"In the works" does not equal "announced."
And "announced" doesn't equal "actually getting made," as we have seen before. But considering this is Zadan, Meron, and Weinstein, I think it's a safe bet.
Meryl Streep for Berthe! :-P

I don't know about this. I would have preferred another show. Do we need a Pippin movie? I'd rather see Wicked on the big screen.
I love the idea of Usher for the Leading Player, and I agree he could do a great job with it.
... I wonder how much they're going to open it up, i.e., locations, historical flavor, etc.
Or is it still going to be stuck in a circus ala the revival?
...and then of course there's the matter of casting "Pippin".
My vote would go to Justin Timberlake...and while we want to ensure this movie gets all the box office success it deserves let's round it out with a couple of more pop stars.
How about Jennifer Lopez as "Fastrada"? Amanda Seyfried as "Catherine". Meryl Streep as "Berthe"...who shall play Charlemagne?
It will be interesting who they will actually go with this.

Carrie Underwood as The Leading Player
Timberlake is too old now.
Just please not Bieber ... or Zac Efron ... but the latter might be a strong contender.
I really was kidding about Meryl Streep ... I hope they find another Berthe. And not Christine Baranski either.
I wasn't kidding about Streep. I can actually "hear" her doing "No Time At All".

Clo Leachman for Berthe or I boycott.

"No one knows who Clo Leachman is anymore."
Nobody except the viewers of the highly rated "Raising Hope."
And Berthe doesn't need to be a name star. I'm assuming Pippin and Leading Player will be above the title and everyone else will be billed in tiny letters.
I can see Efron doing it or even Nick Jonas.
I'm actually not kidding about Jennifer Lopez doing "Fastrada". She would be fierce in that role.
Clo Leachman ain't doing this. I bet they get someone with more of a name.

you mean all 2.75 million people who watched last week's episode?

I honestly think Timberlake could be a great Leading Player also. I really like him as an actor
Betty White.

"Clo Leachman ain't doing this. Get a grip."
Ain't nobody doing this because Pippin is awful on screen. It's not that great a musical to begin with and if they stick with the circus schtick it will be direct to video.
No, better yet ... Angela Lansbury!
^^ See this is what I'm talking about. That's GREAT CASTING!

It's time to start living...
Daniel Radcliffe would be a great choice for Pippin, I think.
It doesn't work if you make it realistic. It's a very stage-oriented property. I'm not altogether pleased about this announcement unless it becomes, as Gothampc derisively put it, a "direct to video" release. Maybe with the circus shtick.

They'd have to lower the keys. Can Daniel hit a high Corner of the Sky B?
