PRODUCERS and RENT movie reviews

Have seen a couple of RENT reviews, and a few user comments, and a few user comments on the PRODUCERS movie. What is the general consensus so far. I know of somebody who saw the PRODUCERS a few days ago at a preview, and the brief comments they passed on were very positive. Read others on another site that were negative. Any more on either, or any feedback that has been submitted but that I have missed would be greatly appreciated. Excited about both, esp PRODUCERS.

There haven't been any official reviews published for either (meaning major publications) -- only a few scattered online blurbs from "in the know" Hollywood reporters like David Poland.

Generally the buzz on THE PRODUCERS is a little more positive then RENT.

I do, however, feel like that's only because there are more celebrities in The Producers. We'll see [boys]...

I have heard a wide array of things about RENT - people hated it, and people LOVE it.

With THE PRODUCERS, however, I've heard nothing but wonderfully positive things from everyone - and this is coming from people who despise the show as much as I do.

In yesterday's Daily News, there was a list of possibly Oscar contenders for this year and The Producers was up there. I haven't heard anything about Rent except for what I hear on these boards. I agree though, The Producers may be getting more attention because of it's high profile stars and writer.

The difference though, is I believe RENT has been selectively screening for the cast and crew and guests. It hasn't had the few sneak previews that The Producers have had. I don't believe anyone from the media has even seen it. At least none that have reported it.

Industry screenings started on November 1 and are continuing....Critics are seeing it this week and next.

From what I gathered, RENT is getting mild and mixed reviews (which makes me sad) while THE PRODUCERS is getting across the board raves.

My question is, I could have sworn I saw it published that the RENT movie was debuting in NY & LA on Nov. 11 and everywhere else Nov. 23rd. Now, Im not seeing the Nov. 11 date anywhere! Am I going crazy? Did something change? Are we still getting it early in NY? Does anyone know whats going on w/that? Thanks in advance!

I believe the 11/11 platform opening is off, and RENT opens everywhere 11/23.

It changed a loooooooong time ago. They scrapped the early release over the summer.

Rent has been getting mixed word of mouth. Producers has been getting raves across the boards. Rent seems to play well for people familiar with the show bu not for those who aren't. Producers has "HIT" written all over it. Rent could be a hit...alot of worst things have been hits. I hope it is.
