That sounds interesting.
Hope to hear it once it's recorded. =)

It was simple ... it was not fun.. nor funny. As a matter of fact, I felt it was insultingly bad. And mind you I enjoyed BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE GOES PUBLIC.. so my standards are very low. The show is so bad that a cast member locked eyes with me during the show and gave me the "I'm sorry you have to see this" look.
The cast had some real talent for the most part... it was just that the material was piss poor. Good performace from a few: Fonzie, Pinkie, Joanie, Howard, Mrs. C. ... but the rest were just average to awful.
Who in their right mind creates a musical based on a classic show and then casts half the performers to be ringers for the originals.. and the other half to be so far away from the original image you forget who they are? You do it one way.. or the other... not both.
I am sure this will sell GREAT on tour.. the producers are no fools. It is a safe recognizable wholesome title. But you can bet it is only being recorded on Gary Marshall's dime... not the merit of the material.

What is it a waste of?
I doubt it was a decision to this or something else. Let's hope we get recording of everything! (Even the not so great stuff) Young composers out there can listen to the bad stuff, and grow up making
better scores!

"But the score was so bland with the exception of one or 2 songs"
Congratulations, you've just described 75% of all cast albums ever recorded.

I never realized the score was original. I thought they were using a bunch of 50s songs.
I like Paul Williams though.

I saw the show at the Pasadena Playhouse and thought it was terrible.

An act of desperation. Talk about throwing good money after bad. P.U. Willy.
