For anyone who wants to witness the worst performer ever to perform on Broadway, well, that might be your chance, but who can afford those tix? On the other hand, Brooke Shields is excellent as Roxie.

Well I DOUBT she's the worst performer ever to hit the stage.

BUT they are splitting the show up between ALL these stars. SO Griffith will NOT be doing much.

Shield's Roxie monologue was unbelievable. but I have a feeling they'll give the big ROXIE number to Reinking.

I wonder if Bebe will do most of the show, along with maybe current Velma, Brenda Braxton?

There were never any really "star" Velmas. But it would be very werid if all the Roxie's split up the show, and Bebe played Velma the whole time.

The only sort of name Velma(s) I can think of are Jasmine Guy, Sharon Lawrence, and Vicki Lewis.

But they are still going to announce more names, so we'll see if we get any Velmas.

They need to get Chita, Ruthie and Caroline O'Connor for this. Ruthie can play Roxie or Velma, or even both. (Ditto for Chita. Though she'd probably do Velma.)

I have to admit I'm not overly impressed by that second list of performers...

I agree, Chita NEEDS to be part of this.

But I think she'll take part of performing Roxie, considering that's what she played in this version of Chicago. I think Velma is too special for her, and she'd want to keep those memories back in the 70's.

where's Ruthie??? She's in NYC now... why not have her as Velma or Roxie which she was SO gd at! But i guess she only played Roxie in Ldn, so tat doesnt REALLY count! Let's wait for the 10th in Ldn! :P

I have a feeling they will stage it the same way they staged "A Chorus Line" when it became the longest running show on Broadway back in the 80s. They will probably do Razzle Dazzle with all the Billys coming out and all the Amos's and Mamas will do those songs. Usually the original cast member startst he song and the others come out and join them. I wish I could go but $500 for the nosebleed seats?! Not in this lifetime. Too bad, it's gonna be great.

I am actually very disappointed with some of these choices. I assume they're getting stars like Griffith so people buy the benefit-priced tickets but Wayne Brady was a very disappointing Billy Flynn and don't even get me started on Griffith. Brooke Shields was delightful as Roxie but hardly the best. Ruthie Henshall must be part of this benefit. I preferred her Roxie to her Velma, her "Funny Honey" has only been surpassed by Gwen Verdon's (just my opinion of course and I haven't seen every single Roxie ever so it's not necessarily a valid opinion either). Ute Lemper will most likely tell the Weisslers to suck it, but Caroline O'Connor should definitely be part of the performance.

The last i heard was Caroline O 'Connor was unsure if she was able to do this, due to the Judy Garland show "Over the Rainbow"..

I think the casting of this is a slap in the face to a lot of performers. Bebe Neuwirth and Ann Reinking should not have to share the stage with such amateurs as Patrick Swayze, Alan Thicke, Melanie Griffith, etc. Yet again, the Weisslers seem not to care about the quality of the product they are putting out there.

Actually the nose-bleed seats are $250. BUT no sites are saying that.

But I was told that on the phone.

And the money is benefiting SAFE HORIZON. An AMAZING charity for victims of violence.

Also there is a rumor going around, that for the anniversary. They will record a new cast recording featuring Liza, Brooke Shields, yes Melanie Griffith, and others. Also it will include a DVD with different clips of the show around the world.

So far it is JUST a rumor. It would be AMAZING if true. If true, it's being said it would be released at the end of September.

There's no doubt the Weisslers have the money to do this. Considering they've released "new" cast recordings of Grease and WT. So I can definitely see them doing this. I would just hope the new cast recording would be COMPLETE.. with Roxie's Monologue, Velma's CAN'T DO IT ALONE Reprise, and the Act 1 Finale.

I hope they do record a new CD/DVD of the show but plz NOT with Brooke/Melanie plz!
I think they should hav Liza, Sandy Duncan and alot of the old ensemble like Mamie...etc
I really cant wait to see how they're making this 10th Anniversary thing work. In the mean time, let's hope there can be more inspired castings!

This REALLY sucks the $250 seats are sold ot. Those were my only chance. $500 is ridiculous, so oh well.

I just WISH, the Weisslers understand that a lot of fans can't afford these prices, and they would do a limited rush (like Rent's lotto.)

And all the money from the rush could go to Horizon also. That would be so amazing. I just wish it could happen. Or atleast they could film this performance.
