I just WISH, the Weisslers understand that a lot of fans can't afford these prices, and they would do a limited rush (like Rent's lotto.)
They understand.... it doesnt mean they care.
From what I understand at the moment the idea of a rush is now being toyed around with. I dont know for sure if it will happen as, at the moment, my sources don't know if it will happen.

Well, Heather. Thank you for a LITTLE bit of hope. I appreciate it.
I'm crossing my fingers about a rush. I assume Safe Horizon would have to agree with it too?

Chita Rivera, Caroline O'Conner, Charlotte d'Amboise, and Brent Barrett have been added. Thank God, Chita has been added.
We finally have another Velma (Caroline.) I assume Chita will definitely perform as Roxie. Though it would be UNBELIEVABLE if Chita rose from the elevator and performed ALL THAT JAZZ. I think Bebe will probally do it, since she created the version in this revival. Though it would literally stop the show if Chita rose from the elevator with the Velma pose.

Posted: 7/31/06 at 11:22amI'm holding out for Jennifer Holliday as Mama Morton. Her "When You're Good To Mama" is sooo over the top, which is perfect for a benefit. What's she doing nowadays anyway?
re: Griffith, Shields, Swayze, Brady, Henner and More Set For 10th Annivers#29
Posted: 7/31/06 at 11:25amShe does concerts these days. I saw her turn as mama. Way over the top. But oh so much fun.

They haven't added a second Mama yet, so maybe they will get Holiday.
I think it's great they added d'Amboise. I don't think we all expected her to be added since the Weisslers would just throw her in the show whenever they needed a Roxie. But she is indeed a SPECIAL Roxie to this revival. So it's great she'll be there.

I have always to see Charlotte and Bebe as Roxie and Velma side by side. Maybe they will let them do the HOT HONEY RAG together?!
I'm thrilled Charlotte will be included.

Or how about Queen Latifah. It would be nice if someone from the movie appeared in the show.
As for Charlotte, despite her being a Chicago "regular", I'm really surprised she's doing it since ACL will have just opened a month before.

I don't think any of the leads from the movie have ANY business being part of this. They HAD nothing to do with creating this revival. I can see if maybe some of them had performed it, but they havent. So they better stay far away. This night will be for celebrating 10 amazing years on BROADWAY, and a lot of the performers who played these roles 8x a week for a period of time.
Anyway, I don't think Charlotte taking a night off from ACL will be that big of a deal. It's only one night. It's important she's part of this.

Posted: 7/31/06 at 4:07pmThis has practically been her life for the past 5 years, I hope she is a part of it! And I wish they gave All That Jazz to Chita and the rest to Bebe.

Queen Latifah for Mama!
re: Griffith, Shields, Swayze, Brady, Henner and More Set For 10th Annivers#38
Posted: 8/1/06 at 12:14pmThe movie cast should not be doing this... I really do not mind them being guest audiences but not part of the performance! This is because those performing onstage for this 10th birthday show should (in my opinion) be those who have performed onstage in the show on Broadway... maybe on tour if they;re pure awesome. Cuz this is the BROADWAY version of the show birthday... no Ldn/foreign/movie casts should be performing on that stage that day!

I don't get it. What business does Queen Latifah have being part of this? Why the heck have actors from the movie there, they don't know the staging, they don't know the choreography, they don't know the stage show's lines, they don't know what it's like to have played these roles 8x a week. So there won't be any from the movie cast part of this. It just makes NO sense.
Anyway, I agree with CJR. Those are the best choices for Morton(s) to be part of this.

Posted: 8/1/06 at 12:51pmWho said anything about Latifah doing it? She is filming Hairspray.

People keep saying "Queen Latifah should be part of it!"
Obviously she wont. But I think it's just ridiculous to want actors from the movie part of this.

I'm holding out for a hero...
(and by that I mean Jennifer Holliday)
She'd be perfect for this benefit. That might get me to the theater. I've never been a huge Chicago fan, but I agree that the movie cast shouldn't be invited to perform in this benefit. While the movie may have helped the shelf life of the stage show, this benefit should be about honoring the cast of the stage production. Which is NOT the movie.

I almost wish they could do All That Jazz twice in full, once with Chita and once with Bebe. I mean, Bebe created the role in this revival and won the Tony for it and we all adore her. But the fact that Chita, who created the role 30 years ago, is still with us, kicking and strutting her stuff at 73 years old, is such a thing to celebrate!
And man, imagine if Jerry Orbach were still around. He would totally have gotten involved in this. So much to celebrate!

If that was a cute reference to Shrek 2, you do know it was Jennifer Saunders who sang that, right?
Nobody was serious about the movie cast, btw.

Holy crap at the list now! How the hell are they going to split all of this up? Sharon Lawrence is a pleasant suprise to this list!
Still practically no Mamas. Lynda Carter, who played Mama in London is added.
Set to join the original cast, Ann Reinking, Bebe Neuwirth, James Naughton, Joel Grey and Marcia Lewis and the previously announced star alumni (Brooke Shields, Melanie Griffith, Marilu Henner, Patrick Swayze, Gregory Harrison, Alan Thicke and Wayne Brady) will be: P.J. Benjamin, John O’Hurley, Obba Babatunde, Sharon Lawrence, Lynda Carter, Paige Davis, Bianca Marroquin, Chuck Cooper, Christopher MacDonald, Destan Owens, Tom Wopat, Ron Raines, Gerry McIntyre, Raymond Bokhour, Kevin Carolan, Tom McGowan, Ron Orbach and Bruce Winant.

Posted: 8/6/06 at 7:18amThat will be great if Terra Mc Leod will be there...
re: Griffith, Shields, Swayze, Brady, Henner and More Set For 10th Annivers#48
Posted: 8/7/06 at 12:22pmIt's debatable at present moment if Terra will be there. Neither of us have heard anything in that respect, but if they're attempting to represent major Chicago companies, Terra would be a Velma to add. Especially considering that she originated the role in Paris and Canada, only to move onto Broadway and the tour.
