Palace balcony vs Shubert Balcony

The balcony in the Shubert is much better viewing than the balcony in the Palace. I seem to think the Palace is further from the stage...it just seems very far away. That said, if a show was good, I have enjoyed it from the Palace balcony; if a show was bad, I did not. In all the times I have been at a performance at the Palace, I have been in every section. The performance I hated the most -- bar none -- had me sitting first row center front mezzanine for a revival of Oklahoma, a dance musical. IMO dance is always better viewed from above, where you see perspectives better and have a better chance of having no heads in front of you...despite that, I hated the show. So, its ultimately about the show.

With one exception. I will no longer sit on the extreme sides close to the stage in a lot of theatres. I find that I miss too much of the action too much of the time, being close and at a strange angle; and, if it is a musical, the dances look strange. Ironically, I do not find the extreme sides of the Palace to be that bad close up...it is not that wide a theatre.
