How exciting to have a new, full-length recording of this score that sounds as excellent as it does. Interestingly, one of my favorite moments is during Dice Is Rolling 2...Rachel's choices on "So I don't exist, so I count for nothing" are so strong, I cant wait to watch her eat this role up onstage. Also, Che's reading of the final lines creeped me out, I'm excited to see what kinda creepy stuff Jamie Lloyd does with that ending.

If anyone follows ShutUpLupone on social media, they posted a 40 second clip of Patti's thoughts. She absolutely loved it, said Nicole was stunning and heartbreaking, and she left the theatre feeling energized. I'm so happy that she loved it as much as I did.

Intermission now. First preview glitches and qualms aside, I have to say I'm not too impressed. Baby June is a star, so far she's the highlight for me. The choreo is great, there have been some funny moments, but overall it's a bit flat for me. There's no denying Audra's talent, but I don't think the role does her voice many favors. That could come down to preference, of course; I prefer a ballsy belter singing these songs. Hopefully act two will leave more of an impression.

Am I really about to call out of work on Wednesday to go see Sunset again that evening? I feel as though I MUST be in the same building with her while she is watching it. Hearing a report afterwards simply isn’t enough.

This is an absolutely stunning production…wow. I’m still gathering my thoughts, but I was so impressed with this. The final scene alone will be seared into my brain for the longest time.

Going tonight and soooooo excited…this is the first time I’m going to the truly first preview of a show. I did go to the reopening of Company, but technically it had already played a few performances before the shutdown so I’m not sure it counts. I walked by the theatre before, gift baskets were being delivered and I could see the house staff congregating inside. The next 2 hours of waiting are gonna be rough!!

Is Eden still having bad pitch issues? I’m debating seeing it one more time, but if she’s still super pitchy most of the time, I dont think I wanna do it.

Intermission now. So far I’m really enjoying this! The whole cast is so, so talented. Amber Iman really is stunning, and even though Eden is definitely pitchy, her voice is still thrilling; I thouggt my head would explode when she belted “your heartbeat” at the end of “Woman Is”. It is a weird show and seems to be a bit all over the place at times, but so far I’m having a great time. I’ve heard that Act 2 is even better, so I’m looking forward to the rest of the evening.
