Sara Surrey was incredible in Lucy Thurber's heartbreaking "Where We're Born" which was done at the Rattlestick a few years ago (she starred alongside future Tony nominees Marin Ireland and Thomas Sadoski). As I'll not be able to see it, I am jealous of anyone who gets to see this very talented young actress tackle a great role.
In regards to this whole thread: there seems to be some implication that the person who started it is a performer of some sort? If this is true I pity the folks who have had the misfortune of seeing his/her work. Nothing worse in the world than seeing a totally self-absorbed performer who thinks they are the most interesting person in the room. Only a hackneyed-ass poseur would stoop to this kind of crap. It is so utterly and bafflingly vapid on so many levels, which many people pointed out very well in previous posts. As they say in Pittsburgh: "What a jagoff".
The OP is most definitely NOT a performer or aspiring to be one.
Lucky him.
Or is that lucky us?
When men are most sure and arrogant they are commonly most mistaken, giving views to passion without that proper deliberation which alone can secure them from the grossest absurdities. ~ David Hume, Philosopher, b.1711 - d.1776

""Pedigree" = "name I know," Q. Nothing to do with credits, training or experience."
Someone has to respond to this. So if you don't know their name that means an actor has no "pedigree?" Have I got that right? How old are you? I'm quite certain that you have no idea who many great actors are or what their names might be - why even some award-winners. That mean they have no pedigree, because you don't know their name? Seriously, tell us your age.
... did you read ANY of the rest of this thread? I was not being serious!

I did read the thread, but I must have missed the part that you weren't serious. Sorry.

maybe if they cast cheyanne jackson, Shoshana bean and annaleigh ashford then it would be exciting!
And awful. Maybe papermill wanted to hire real actors instead of people that did one role and now the 17yr olds on chat boards love them.
I am sure when Sutton Foster was announced as "millie" coming in, you posted, "ugh what a boring lead. maybe they could get a real broadway girl to play that part, like andrea mccardle".

I have to give Papermill credit where credit is due. They're pretty good about casting unknowns and casting stars. In their musicals, they have made careers for quite a few men and women. My friend Julie got a lot of work at one time for being in Anything Goes with Chita Rivera there, and another friend of mine got half his equity points from being the team mascot in High School Musical.
I know Max Beer personally; and I actually had no clue he was in this. Or maybe I did. But none the less, could someone tell me how he does? I saw him in the regional premiere of "13" at French Woods in August.
I would agree with you that at first glance there aren't any names that 'pop out', but that's all the joy in productions with unknowns. Everyone deserves a chance to shine, and it's nice to get a breath of fresh air every once in a while.

PJ, I'm with ya. So early in the year, too!
Not that adamgreer wasn't "deeply shallow" and pretty clueless with his original post and subsequent indignant follow-ups, but this is a fairly brutal public stoning from a large number of posters.
It just keeps bringing out the worst in people.
