Passing Strange - Favorite Song?

What's your favorite Passing Strange song?
I'm a professional. Whenever something goes wrong on stage, I know how to handle it so no one ever remembers. I flash my %#$&. "Jayne just sat there while Gina flailed around the stage like an idiot."

Hated the show, but I LOVE "Amsterdam". Such a great song!

You felt the need to bump after 5 minutes? Was there really a need? Is it that dire of a question, what your favorite song from a mediocre show was?

You're reminding me of people you hear at the movies asking questions every ten seconds, "Who is that? Why is that guy walking down the street? Who's that lady coming up to him? Uh-oh, why did that car go by? Why is it so dark in this theater?" - FindingNamo on strummergirl

"That's, like, twelve shows! ...Or seven." -Crazy SA Fangirl

"They say that just being relaxed is the most important thing [in acting]. I take that to another level, I think kinda like yawning and...like being partially asleep onstage is also good, but whatever." - Sherie Rene Scott

"Work the Wound"

And while it's not an actual song, Mr. Franklin and Youth's dialogue during the Arlington Hill section got to me every time I saw the show.

re: Passing Strange - Favorite Song?

blaxx, I made this when the only two shows I knew were Wicked and Beauty and the Beast, cut me some slack. I wish I could change it to some SITPWG or Sondheim reference, but I can't.

I'll cut you a huge chunk of slack if you say YOU think it was mediocre.

re: Passing Strange - Favorite Song?

That's a toughie...the 'It's Alright' part of Keys was the most intense, electrifying moment I've ever had in a theater (each time I saw it).

Closely followed by 'Stoned'.

I always enjoyed 'Church Blues Revelation'. And 'Work the Wound' is beautiful. But I really loved ALL of the songs. There really wasn't one I didn't like.

Definitely "Arlington Hill". In fact that whole Arlington Hill scene is by far my favorite part of the show.

re: Passing Strange - Favorite Song?

I think it is mediocre. It's all just a matter of taste, in my opinion. I would rather see a classic, honest-to-god, broadway show than any of the newer, "contemporary" shows.

re: Passing Strange - Favorite Song?

I'm with WickedBeast here. I just don't see any of those songs as being great theater songs. None of them gave me that Broadway tingle. But I did like Daniel Breaker a lot.
