Great Idea

Yay! I can't wait to see it.
I think they should do the same for In The Heights
Both would probably bring a lot of appeal on MTV.
Maybe VH1 for "Grease"...
Nice plan. Any idea when it will be filmed?

This is great to hear. Hope they're able to find distribution deal soon.
not surprising that spike lee is involved
Yes and No...Y'all know I LOVE this show, but I think a lot of it's appeal is in the raw, LIVE theatrical experience. Hopefully it will be filmed with panache, but somehow, filmed versions of live shows never really capture the "spirit" and PS does NOT depend on fancy scenery or costumes for it's inherent power. Anyway, good luck!
I would rather In The Heights, A Catered Affair or 1 or 2 recently closed shows.
Great! I'm hoping a recording of Gypsy.
That is basically the way they filmed Legally Blonde, right? Like with/without audiences?
I'm looking forward to this.

Really?
Grey Gardens isn't filmed.
Sunday in the Park With George isn't filmed.
Hell, Wicked hasn't been filmed.
But THIS? Oy vey.
This is fabulous.
LuPone Gypsy next, please.

you know, Gyspy should be recorded....
Spike Lee has experience directing live performances for film, so I can't imagine he'll have any trouble doing Passing Strange justice. It'll be great to have a record of the show to keep its spirit alive.
THANK. GOD.
I cannot believe there are people groaning on the board about this. Let's be honest, the show's days are numbered and this recording HOPEFULLY might boost some more life in the run and introduce this amazing show to a whole new crowd.

Neither of the first two have half the commercial appeal, and the third caught on well enough to not necessitate a filming.
BT, why the necessity of cutting and pasting your exact same post from hours ago? We get it, we get it...now, find a movie camera and film your own damn show
