I know I am a little late to the conversation but I was at Pippin on May 2nd the first night Patina was out and Stephanie was on. When they made the announcement right before curtain I was pretty disappointed as I was hoping to see Patina's Tony nominated and probably winning performance. After reading this thread and learning the circumstances about no rehearsal for Stephanie I can certainly cut her some slack and give her credit for performing the role that night but that doesn't mean I thought she was great by any means, her voice just wasn't strong enough and I can't say I enjoyed her performance. The production as a whole was magical and all the other performances were stellar. I guess this just gives me an excuse to go back again and hopefully see Patina! I am glad to hear she is doing better.
That's what I'm doing for my trip in June. She was out on May 5, when I saw it. Although I'm using up that slot to see Pippin again, with Orphans closing (easy rush) and the only alternative is standing room for Lucky Guy, I will try again. If she is out then it is my bad luck. I just feel I am not see the show as staged as it was intended without Patina.
