Agreed about the poster growing on me.
(Especially now that we have La LuPone's permission to enjoy it!)

Tagline gives the production an exciting air of importance.
Graphic "design" is still god awful.

Posted: 1/13/08 at 2:55amI just can't see that being on the cover of the CD. It's just so....ugly. And boring. Espeically for something like Gypsy. It seems like it should have a more vaudville type approach.

Again ... this is what the poster says to me!
And I say based on her reviews "THE ICE SHOW" is more accurate than "AT LAST"!

#36re: Patti LuPone GYPSY: 'At Last'
Posted: 1/13/08 at 12:56pmBrantley is the only critic that matters, so yes.

^ Exactly, the only mixed review(s) Patti received were from the Times.
And since when is Rose suppose to be some warm loving character? Maybe you should see Patti in the show, Flaunt it.

Exactly, Brick!
While "Flaunt It"'s graphic is pretty amusing (I hate the artwork they've concocted for this production), it's that kind of delusional post that really upsets me.
Some of you don't care for LuPone, either as Rose, or in general. That's just fine. But many of us found her performance to be nothing short of extraordinary and revelatory. And if you take a look, instead of making ignorant comments, the critics overwhelmingly agree with the latter party. Other than Brantley, she received consistent raves from the major critics and publications, as did her costars, Benanti and Gaines.

I love LuPone. Her performance in SUNSET BOULEVARD marks my favorite experience ever in a theatre.
She is just about 20 years too old for Rose now, she looks it, and she is playing it as herself, not as Rose.

- You should do some research here. When she played it at Ravinia, everyone was going nuts here raving about her performance. Some people turned on her at City Center, I don't know why. But all the major critics loved her, and Brantley was mixed. But it seems you rather judge by what other say instead of actually seeing the performance!

"The poster is actually kind of growing on me."
The only growth I'm getting from that poster is mold.

Yes, you are quite right. And if you READ my post, you will see that I acknowledged that. I SAID, "Some of you don't care for LuPone, either as Rose, or in general. That's just fine." There are many varying opinions on all subjects in the world and that's the way it should be. I was simply correcting the unfair statement that her reviews were negative because that's simply not true. Other than Brantley's critique, LuPone received critical praise.
That's all. My apologies for getting in the way and correcting wrong information.

Posted: 1/13/08 at 7:04pmHello. Does anyone know if Tony Yazbek will be a part of the "Gypsy" cast? I hope he does, since I'm only lacking his autograph in the "Chorus Line" poster. I'm looking forward to seeing Miss Patti in concert on January 22nd in Dallas. Yay. from RC in Austin, Texas
