Now don't shoot me down immediately! I was trying to think of a role Patti could play at this stage in her career and I thought of Mama Morton! It's not that taxing and with some vocal coaching she might be able to handle the songs- and if not, it's the kind of role she could "talk" her way through. And the show is such a solid hit that I don't think she could sink it like she has the last half dozen times she's been on B'way.
It would be a nice gesture towards a woman who's outlived her "talents" but still needs to make a living. And who knows, a few people might remember her from "Life Goes On" and come check her out.
What do you think?

Kay Francis ended up running a laundromat. I think this would be more dignified.
I would hope my Queen Patti would have enough self-respect to not be the 157th replacement in a revival.

Before someone takes my Kay Francis comment out of context I want to make it totally clear: I KNOW Patti Lupone does not have what it takes to run a laundromat!
You're joking right? Why on EARTH would a legend (that's right, I said LEGEND, deal with it!) like Patti consider doing a role in a show that has basically become a theme park ride in the middle of New York City.
You may as well ask her to clean the goddamned toilets at The Ambassador.
The OP is a very sick person.

Sorry But No
She is way above that and can do whatever she wants on broadway
She doesn't settle for roles, she owns roles
I think it's a great idea, Joe! Why don't you write her a letter suggesting it?
sarcasm took major flight over some people's heads.

wtf?
The thread title alone had me hearing her voice singing that song in my head.
Not picturing her, since I'm watching Star Trek TNG and Marina Sirtis bears a striking resemblance to her so I see Mama in a Starship uniform.

I'd rather see her as Miss Hannigan

I'm hoping I run into her next time I;m in New York so I can suggest it in person. Do people still post which intersection she's washing car windows at?
She stopped washing windows a few months ago, Joe. Now she owns a halal cart by Bryant Park.
That is one thing I have always admired about Patti, she is so Enterprizing! Ha! see what I did there? tied two prvious posts together! I deserve a drink!
Even with vocal coaching she won't be able to sing it.

"With some vocal coaching she might be able to handle the songs"????!!! You ARE joking, right? She may not be up for playing Evita six times weekly these days but she is still one Hell of a singer.
If we're bent on sticking her into a B'way theme park why not cast her as the next Green Goblin in Spidey?! She'd be FAB
Snafu, here's your drink, pal
Well... now it's on the floor. The bitch.

You know, I thought about Green Goblin but I don't think she's likeable enough.
Guys this thread is a troll and lets not take it seriously. Patti LuPone would never consider replacing as Mama Morton.
Moving on... -->
Hey...you! LIGHTEN UP!
She'd be great for the concert at the Hollywood Bowl, but she'd only do it if Lonny Price was directing.
