and with that Robber Bridegroom pic, you're starting the part of the thread where we post hot pictures of Baby Patti?
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

Why would people who have no connection to theatre know who she is?
I think you're overestimating the amount of people who know anything about theatre, let alone know who Patti LuPone is.
Not belittling her at all, she is definitely one of the top performers around today, but that doesn't make her 'famous', no matter how much the fangirls wish it.
I'm sure people would have issues if Idina Menzel was proclaimed to be famous, and she is certainly more well known these days.

You're right about "Broadway fame" vs. movie or TV fame. But I don't think I agree about Idina's being more famous.
After a 30-odd-year career, two Tonys, several high-profile movies, and a popular TV series, I'd imagine Patti is better known among the population at large.

I meant like, right now Idina could be classed as more well known..ish because of the mainstream involvement she's had recently.
Granted, they would only know her as 'that woman that was in Enchanted' or 'oh, the one that married Taye Diggs?' and maybe even 'yeah, isn't she the green girl from that show?'.
Just depends what generations we're talking about I guess, and how 'informed/cultured' the individual.
Haha...talk about subject drifts...

I love the "people like you" and "you message board people" and "community of message board freaks"
Made me laugh coming from the person reading and posting on this board. Way to prove your own point.
