Is it just me, or does Patti voice sound different on the new gypsy recording ?? Her voice sounds like it has been softened. When she said sing out louise, sing out. I didn't even recognize it was her, I thought I purchased the wrong recording.
Recordings always sound a bit different than the live music in the theater. It has to do with acoustics, plus whatever the producers decided to do to the recording when editing it.
It's that and the fact that a lot of the dialogue was not recorded the way they perform it in the theatre. This is most apparent on the act two finale track. It's hard to describe.
Not sure if it has anything to do with what you're talking about, but I love her voice so much! I love this recording! and the song "Smile, Girls"

I love the title of this thread. I click on it because I have absolutely no idea what it will be about this time...
I think it still sounds like her voice.
Sounds like La LuPone to me
LOVE the "new" tracks.

I heard that on the recording she was dubbed by Bernadette Peters.
Bernadette Peters? I read somewhere that Leslie Kritzer dubbed La LuPone.

You're all wrong. Lisa Kirk did the dubbing.
