I saw the show for the first time last night too. It was Amazing!! I'm sure they make that pause in the announcement just to get a reaction...my first thought when they paused was they that were going to say just kidding or something...haha. But besides the different shoes you'd never no she was hurt.
Oh and thats funny that Donald Trump and his wife were there. I was in like the fifth row but opposite side of where Patti enters...I didn't see him.
Due to reading this thread as I pre-gamed last night, when I was absolutely ****-face drunk at Posh and Kanye West's "Stronger" was playing and it got to this section:
You know how long i've been on ya?
Since prince was on Apollonia...
[I turned to my roommate and go:]
Since Loops was in isotoners
Don't act like I never told ya
Never told ya
Never told ya
Never told ya

The thing is, if you have a broken toe, you're usually wearing some kind of thick walking cast. I would think that Isotoners are rather thin and not supportive enough. Maybe on the opposite foot from the one in the cast, but no cast and 2 slippers? Bad, Patti, bad. If you ever want to heal your toe, that is.
Most actors like to wear their 'show shoes' in rehersal as soon as possible because it helps the feel the character more fully. Clearly, since this actress only plays one character--herself--it makes sense that shes wearing slippers.

I would agree on the support aspect, but most people I've known who've broken a toe have simply had it taped to the next one. No casts for toes.

She had them on Tueaday, 6/17/08, the first performance after the Tonys.
I noticed she had her shoes on for the Tonys, though.

Yeah, she wore the slippers during the matinee Tony Sunday. I was a little hurt when she had character shoes on during the awards.
"Oh, she's wearing slippers? I thought Isotoners were those walking shoes postal service employees wear. The latter was an amusing thought to me, slippers, not so funny"
Patti's isotoners looked like that, though they did not have the little bows on them.

I honestly didn't know Isotoners made slippers until all this started. I'm used to them being gloves, which confused me to no end why there would be an announcement about her wearing gloves. Oops. I know now.
I still say they're paying for product placement with the announcement.
What a sad, sad thing. Lead actress in Broadway musical wearing bedroom slippers and carrying a stuffed dog.

Having had a broken toe in the last six months, I was given a a fracture shoe to wear for 6 weeks and was absolutely not allowed to wear anything with a "flexible" sole. It may depend on which toe was broken too as well as the fact that most people do just tape the toes together as doctor's really can't do anything to "fix" a broken toe.
The Isotoner people need to take out a billboard in Times Square or an ad in Playbill:
Patti performs 8 nights a week thanks to Isotoners! Just think what you could do.

- She has a broken toe, you idiot. I suppose it would be better for her to just call out for weeks? It's not like she's wearing slippers to be lazy. She has a broken toe....and a new Tony award.

Last night someone in the audience yelled "Holy ****" really, really loudly haha. I think they should just keep reading the announcement to get people's reactions... cause it's pretty amusing.
I'm pretty sure it's her Big Toe.
What's so amusing about scaring people who have paid like $110 to see a TONY winning performance by making them think Ms. Thing won't be going on?

I do not believe in censorship, however Curtainpulldowner needs to go away
Of course you'd think that. You worship at the altar of La LuPone. No differing opinions, with you. God forbid! Or should I say Goddess?
Frankly, I'm getting tired of hearing about these Isotoner announcements. It was funny the first two times, but now it's just old.
I will GLADLY go away if people would stop starting a thread everytime the Diva farts.
I went to see GYPSY last night, on a whim, and during her big number the star cut the cheese!!!!
OMG, did you smell that?
That is soooooo Patti.
bye.
I have no problem with different opinions. Everyone is entitled. But I do not stand for malicious and hateful bashing. I don't understand how someone (Curtain etc) can hate someone so much that they don't even know. Curtain hates her so much, he even has to send me PMs bashing her. It's ridiculous.
