Out of town tryout coming very soon, very exciting!!
 

Anka has long hoped to bring his story to the stage.  He has been working on a Jersey Boys-style show with Rupert Holmes.  The musical will follow this young kid from Canada who left home and got lucky, experienced the American dream at 15, and went from there.

Anka has over 500 songs to his credit, including “Put Your Head On My Shoulder,” “My Way,” and the famous theme from “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.”  He is the only artist in history to have a song in the Billboard Top 100 during seven separate decades.

I house managed some Paul Anka concerts let’s just say ….oye a divaaaaaa and the crazy demands.

His song collection is so vast and popular, I think this musical actually has the scope to be a big hit as long as the book doesn’t drag it down.  Nobody cares about Paul Anka, just give us his incredible music, and maybe a little drama, a line here and there, but nothing to take away from the songs.  It could be a great American Songbook show.

How many of these type musicals are enough? Do we need one for every freaking pop singer that has had a few hits. Some are done well but most are tiresome because the book is generally weak.  "Just In Time" is successful but that is mainly due to the incredible performance of Jonathan Groff. He will be followed by Jeremy Jordan who is another star that will sell tickets. Personally, I have no interest in a musical about Paul Anka.
