I felt like Lane is not exactly the curmudgeon that is described in the play, he’s pretty soft throughout. I agree with an earlier comment about how Laurie Metcalf is too strong, it should be the opposite between the two. Linda is supposed to be a trad wife, not a pioneer woman.
Oh really?? It was unacceptable on this board to like The Queen of Versailles, saying so , you’d get hurled insults. Jarethan called me a moron the other day for saying Chess is terrible, an opinion that is probably more in the majority. So yes, people need to respect other’s opinions. Even when I disagree, I do not call people warts or herpes infection or moron.
My issue with ballroom is that it’s so gratuitous. Look at me, look at me. So much pomp and circumstance for something that doesn’t warrant the explosive response IMO. Minutes long standing ovations for nothing. It really is not for me, i’m a modest person, and you certainly do not speak for the queer community. Learn to respect people’s opinions who differ from your own.
I really disliked this at PAC and know several people who didn’t like it either. Without spectacle, the choreography (ballet, jazz, tap), the amazing set, and hair and makeup, this musical doesn’t have anything going for it. They scrubbed the show of everything good and replaced it with arm movements and bad vocals, the woman singing memory was totally off pitch. It’s all so pedestrian, do they still have the slide show to open act two?
You didn’t tell us what you thought of just in time and death of a salesman. Did you see anything tonight?
Yes, Tkts sells tickets for both evenings and matinees when it opens, they even sell next day tickets for matinees. I would go to whichever ticket booth is closer to you, I’ve noticed the one on 62nd street is quite busy in recent years. Since it’s a Thursday afternoon, I wouldn’t expect long lines though.
Settled out of court. PH apologized but no admission of wrongdoing. They won’t tie discounts to race again. We don’t know if there was any payout to Kevin Lynch.

Gonna go on a very short limb and say, based upon the shows you listed, next season will not be competitive at all: it’ll be Paddington by miles."

The show’s a breath of fresh air, nice country western epic with two ladies pretending to be white to get the money that was stolen from them. They leave the plantation armed, and the whole show is this wild roller coaster ride with them trying to get what they want. The score is good, dramatic, melodic, excellent performances all around. There’s nothing like this, and I’m easily rooting for this to go all the way Best Musical 2027. I just know y
His song collection is so vast and popular, I think this musical actually has the scope to be a big hit as long as the book doesn’t drag it down. Nobody cares about Paul Anka, just give us his incredible music, and maybe a little drama, a line here and there, but nothing to take away from the songs. It could be a great American Songbook show.
