That’s weird. The Shape of Water was nominated for best original screenplay, not best adapted screenplay. I do see similarities in the plots on IMDb; just substitute dolphin for sea creature.

The screenplay did not win an Oscar, although the movie did.

I think people know that, since it was said it was NOMINATED as an original script.

The original poster does not say that at all. He states Paul Zindel won an Oscar in his caption, and that the third video of his play won an Oscar in his post.
It's a pointed omission when a movie wins an Oscar as Best Picture but not for Best Screenplay.
