Phantom Injuries?

I did a search but couldn't find anything. I am curious if there are any stories out there about people injured during Phantom performances. Like has anyone ever been hit by the chandelier when it falls because they couldn't out of the way quick enough?
I guess you could classify it as a morbid curiosity, but Phantom (like many other shows) is big and dark. Big sets always seem like an accident waiting to happen to me.

Posted: 9/21/11 at 10:11amI don't know about anyone in the audience ever being injured (I'm gonna say no on that one) but the actors in the show have had injuries, sure. Several years ago, Hugh Panaro hurt his back during the scene after "Masquerade" where the Phantom disappears. Originally he was supposed to drop through a trap door, but after Hugh's injury it was changed so that the Phantom now runs offstage.

With the speed at which that chandelier moves, I'd be embarrassed for anyone who couldn't get out of the way fast enough, even if it killed them.

Also, Tim Martin Gleason called the theatre to tell them he was taking a break, because he had heard from another cast member that bats had been spotted above the angel. Not really an injury, but a fun story.

Sierra didn't finish the show. Amanda Huddleston did, and it was actually her first performance as Christine!

^^ Yeah, I read a Rebecca Luker interview recently where she said she slipped on the fog machine residue while running and slid all the way upstage and got her leg pretty much impaled under the iron gate...and the phantom who was supposed to be chasing her had to help her rip her dress that was caught and help get her leg out...she finished the scene though.

Several injuries documented here. It's a great read, too. :)

Sara Jean Ford had a pretty big injury happen to her on the national tour. There's a great video about it that I'll link at the bottom of the page, but basically she ran towards the portcullis, slipped and ended up with quite a painful injury considering how she landed.
There's a bit of language in the video, just as a warning.
