Posted: 12/3/03 at 6:40pmThis movie will SUCK the way all movies directed by Joel Schumacher SUCK. He will do the Phantom Of The Opera what he did to the Batman franchise: turn it into an overdesigned travesty. It will be a disaster of Showgirls proportions, and people are so desperate for a musical movie that they will overlook how GODAWFUL it is going to be.

There's some optimism for you....GEEEEEEEZ, Could we be a little more positive, and a little bit less of a moron who obviously forgot to take their medication?!?!? Phantom of the Opera is an amazing show with a great story, and from what I have heard, they are going to try to follow the original Gaston Leroux novel a little more closely! At least give it the benifit of the doubt, who knows you may love, or at least like it....I for one am looking extremely forward to this movie...I CAN'T WAIT.....YAY!!!
See Ya!

What 2 songs were new in Evita? There was only one if I'm correct... You Must Love Me.
They brought back "The Lady's Got Potential" from the original concept recording (it was never in a stage version)for the movie.

Roscoe - I guess in a way I kind of understand what you meant with the whole Batman comment, but in terms of being over-exaggerated.....Have you seen the clip of the Paris Opera exterior?!?!? It's Absolutely Gorgeous!!!! Just give it a chance!

Posted: 12/5/03 at 2:30pmWhatever happened to the movie version of Les Miz. I know they were planning it awhile back and now with the recent surge of movie musicals, it looks like it would be the perfect time to get it back in gear. Anyone heard any news on it?
#13re: re: 'Phantom' Movie Set
Posted: 12/5/03 at 2:38pmI don't know.

Posted: 12/5/03 at 4:57pmwow Roscoe, can we be a little positve?? Why do you think it will be bad? Joel Shumacher directed some pretty good/famous movies. I've noticed a couple people on this board are either mean or have attitudes... why can't you guys lighten up?

I think the movie will suck because I don't think Joel Schumacher is capable of making an even remotely good movie. The picture of the set is very nice, yes, but it really should be remembered that there is more to a good movie than pretty sets.
Sorry to rain on the parades of the eternally upbeat and happy people who just can't wait to see the movie!!!

Posted: 12/6/03 at 6:48pmHe's a good director and has done some great work, forget Batman and Robin, but look at films such as Flatliners, Phone Booth, The Lost Boys, Falling Down, The Client, Tigerland.... very exceptional films!

Posted: 12/6/03 at 7:38pmI'll be surprised if it is an awesome movie, but I have been surprised before.

Posted: 12/7/03 at 12:21pmJoel may surprise you. I met him @ the Maverick film session 3 yrs ago @ the Toronto Film Festival & was really pleasantly surprised. He really sees himself as an artist who got sucked into the blockbuster/studio mould by accident. He's really an old hippie and is very caring about things that count like the enviorment & peace & such. He also has a HUGE reference of all things art, theatre & cinema. Don't sell him short. Hey whoda thunk Chicago woulda worked eh?
