Despite the bad reviews I have heard for this I have to say visually it looks kinda fab!
I love the picture with Allison in the pink corset... nice to see that they give her a bit of a drape makeover.
"If we don't live happily ever after at least we survive until the end of the week!" -Kermit the frog "I need the money... it costs a lot to look this cheap!" -Dolly P. "Oh please, Over at 'Gypsy' Patti LuPone hasn't even alienated her first daughter yet!" Mary Testa in "Xanadu" "...Like a drunk Chita Rivera!" Robin de Jesus in "In the Heights"
"B*tch, I don't know your life." -Xanadu After that if he still doesn't understand why you were uncomfortable and are now infuriated, kick him again but this time with Jazz Hands!!! -KillerTofu#2re: Photos : Cry-Baby

Now we can sleep soundly.
Is there not a set for this show?

Its an awesome set, actually! Note how everything is square and symetrical for the 'square' scenes, and everything is on wild angles for the 'drape' scenes. The Turkey
Point interior and the dock scenes are great! Also way cool transition from Allison's mansion to the interior of correctional facilities. I have noted that a lot of people are saying there is no scenery in this show. There is! Its just concise and economic. (And if you really want to see a show with NO scenery..Check out GYPSY. Talk about bare bones!)

Why is this a musical? On Broadway?
I've held off on weighing in on it, because if you don't have anything nice to say...I guess I won't say anything else.

Posted: 4/15/08 at 5:53pmActually, I was just referring to the photos. It could have Norma Desmond's living room made over by John Waters for all I know, just wondering why the didn't show it in the photos. It makes it look cheap.

Posted: 4/15/08 at 5:54pmI dont think it looks cheap. Its what it needs. Its crisp and clean.

I have to say the sets for the show are impressive. And I must also admit that going into the show, I was hoping it would be terrible so that I could have fun ripping it apart. I wanted to hate it. But it was not at all what I expected.
It's not a revolutionary masterpiece by any stretch, but it is not the worst dog of a show this season. It's just a fun show. I don't know where everyone's getting the idea that it's soooo terrible.

1. The sets don't even fill up half of the Marquis stage. They are small and cheap.
2. Looks like they made Spencer Liff button up his vest. There goes the best part of the show!

Posted: 4/15/08 at 7:13pmIn the first scene when the drapes enter, liff wears the vest closed. Later, at Turkey Point, he wears and dances in it open. It was like this on the first preview, and it was like that last friday night too.

The sets are quite definitely not "AWESOME". The show is a complete, unmitigated, disastrous piece of sh*t. Run, don't walk, in the opposite direction of this horrible waste of money, time, space, energy and interest. It's AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWFUL.
HI!

His vest was open when I saw it too

I thought some of the sets were drab and spare (opening scene gazebo, closing scene fair grounds) while some of them were really detailed and impressive (Turkey Point and the following scene w/ 'Girl Can I Kiss You With Tongue). a couple of the others were just fine (prison, the mansion set, the bridal store front).

Posted: 4/16/08 at 10:44pmNot small and cheap, not expansive and luxurious...somewhere in the middle. I thought the courtroom set was very nice and the outdoor set was fine.
