Oh my God, so much fur.......
I think someone may be fibbing a little.
The show only managed a dress run today. It cancelled the first preview, due this evening- due to "technical difficulties".
I expect it WILL be racy- not yet, though...
"It looks, based on these photos, that they've discarded the 1930s feel and moved it into the 90s or the 00s, which suggests it's going to be slightly more political in tone, with a few parallels that might make some large country (say, the US) uncomfortable. This isnt a pre-WW2 look, it's a pre-"Coalition of the Willing" look"
I really, really hope you're wrong about that...
Yawn.
As usual for Cabaret, progressively more and more twisted and sexual -- the only thing directors can seem to do in their attempt to make the show "interesting."
ew hate it, i agree with munk wayyy to much fur
ditto on the fur - and that guy has a weird mouthpiece thingie.
we'll see how the reviews are, but I think it looks strange.
"i think it looks strange."
Probably what people thought when they saw the press images for the Mendes version.

"and that guy has a weird mouthpiece thingie"
That guy is James Dreyfus thus, the Emcee.
Are you sure the guy with the mouthpiece is James Dreyfus? I thought the one wearing the furr and the red/yellow neck tie thing was James Dreyfus.

These new promo images are really superb, i like the typical Berlin style from that period mixed with the traditional clothing of the lederhosen and dirndl dresses.
They nailed it even better as the Sam Mendes version, looks like a very promissing production !
As for the used in the costumes that is so totally Europe and especially Germany in the 30 ties, fur was always and still is BIG in Germany.
When i see my grandma's old photo's from the 30 ties in Dusseldorf she always wore a fur coat.
You will still see a lot of fashion houses and even in normal stores/ supermarkets like Kaufhof who sell fur coats in all designs and sizes.

Kyle, the guy with the mouth piece is definately James Dreyfus. Go to Google images, they aren't great pics, but you should be able to tell. I'd do it myself, but it all starts and stops with turning the computer on and off: - )
Oh, Geez Loiuse!
All of this forced decadence does get kinda tiring.
In about 20 years, someone will revive "Cabaret" the way Hal Prince originally directed it and everyone will call it revolutionary...
Well, I think it's really important for Cabaret to be "twisted and sexual;" but... well, too much fur!
it's like the Max Hardcore version of Cabaret! awesome!
at least it'll get a cast recording. heh
I LOVE these pics.
I'm jealous...

Gawd, I love this show.
Hmm suprising that the guy in the solo pic isn't the Emcee.
Well the guy with the mouthpiece does look very much like an Emcee.
I wonder why that one guy got his own picture.
I still can't wait to see more pics of this, and to hear the reviews. Plus I want to know the songlist. And see what version of the book they follow.
From Playbill.com:
I still don't get what the mouthpiece is.
It looks like something out of "Saw."
the sally bowles isn't attractive at all. not that liza was drop dead gorgeous, she just looks so unappealing. they should have a contest:
WHO CAN MAKE THED WEIRDEST CABARET?
I love the look of it all. Hope it is wonderful and I would love to see it if I get a chance to cross the pond.
Why does Sally need to be attractive? I can understand wanting to look at a beautiful woman when you see a show, but good looks aren't exactly integral to the part, IMO.
woah those pictures are hot!
Looks like Scissor Sisters meets the Aviator meets Cabaret.
Different...and I like it! Reminds me of Hedwig.
I think the actress playing Sally is beautiful.
I'm very interested to see what Michael Hayden does with Cliff as well. Loved him in Carousel.
it looks differnt. Im not too sure im a fan of it.
But to regard an earlier post what do you mean Raul almost reinvented the show. (not sure if I can say this) but i have his performance on DVD and yes he was brillant. But when I was little I saw NBL in the role and though i dont remember a super amount I dont see a huge difference in the show between the two. YEs raul did it his way and NBL did it his way and Cummings it his way but im unclear how Raul changed it so much please explain someone.
