1) Jan 5 and Sept 5 are two different things.
2) Do you have a link? I highly doubt they would make such an error. Perhaps the ad states "on sale thru Jan 5"?

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Sorry, I meant Jan 5. If u notice on my thread title it says Jan5. I think Jan 5 is still way too early for them to close. Afterall it's selling out every week and won several major Tonys including best musical revival. I was expecting this to run at least until Jan 5, 2014.

AGAIN with the explanation. Shows can only sell tix for a finite time. If a show announces its selling tix until next year, it doesn't mean the show is closing, it mean that it is going to be open another year. Pippin is gonna be around for a long time.
Wicked is only selling tix until August! It must be closing!
Get it?

MANY shows only release tickets in blocks....4 months, 6 months out -- whatever. They want to condense sales for now. In a few months (or weeks) once they have sold x% of those tickets, they will release another block of tickets.
If you looked at most shows, it would be similar. HUGE hits (Wicked, Mormon, etc) likely sell tickets further out.

Oh these Broadway Cassandras! What Ziggy said....(by the way, I love that name!) from RC in Austin, Texas
"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

In the listing it says "Through Jan 5" Had to pull out my TONY to see. Haven't been paying attention to the listings to know if it has been there since it opened.
Found it on the website as well.

I just think they haven't released the next block of tickets yet. But have never seen a date in the listings for an open ended run that wasn't closing or limited run before.
Telecharge just says on sale till Jan 5, 2014.

To all the know it alls on this board, I'm very much aware that shows sell tickets in blocks of time periods. My point was that they listed it as if it was closing on Jan 5.

Yes, but there was no link so how do we know you didn't simply misread the article?

This doesn't make sense. First of all, I do notice the thread title and understand you mean January 5, but your post still says September...twice. Second you are saying you were expecting this to run until at least January 5 AFTER saying January 5 is too early to close. Sounds like your mind is all over the place.

Believe me, I do work for that show, they have NO intent on closing anytime soon! Why would they? Numerous Tonys a great advance and a full house every night, great word of mouth? The show is raking in the cash.
Those Blocked: SueStorm. N2N Nate. Good riddence to stupid! Rad-Z, shill begone!

Tickets on Sale Thru Jan 5 does not equal Show Closing Jan 5.
Gee, could it be TONY just worded it badly? From your post, it certainly didn't SOUND like you understood about blocks of tix. (So don't blame us.)

January 5th 2014 is probably the first Sunday of the New Year. I imagine several shows will close on that date as this is normal on Broadway; many shows close on the first Sunday of the year. I doubt PIPPIN will be one of them.

Okay, I really meant that I thought that closing on Jan 5,2015 would be more like it. My bad. I am all over the place. After all, I have ADHD and I'm a recovering Crystal Meth addict so please cut me some slack.

Geez, does an alarm go off in your head because the word Wicked was typed?
And yes, it was just an example. No one thinks Wicked is closing. Ever.

Missed the show? It's still playing.
WHY would you buy the cd from overseas??? It's sold here too. I've had the download for nearly a month.
Oy.
