reply for nickip: the workshop version is cleaner and focused more on Ariel and Prince Eric. She begins to hum the "ah~~" thing (the same one she sang into the shell for the witch), then Eric joins her, then the ensemble, and then they together sing " Now we can walk, now we can run, no we can play all day in the sun " Prince Eric-"just you and me", Ariel "and i will be" , together " part of your world" then, the entire cast together "Ahhhhh"

With Clay Aiken in Spamalot, all of Broadway is singing a collective "There! Right! There!" -Me-

Not sure, but i think originally she didn't get her voice back until the very end. you can tell from the song that she even said how if only she can speak, so i think Triton probably heard that and gave her voice back and then in the middle of her singing, Eric realizes it's her and joined in.
i believe they changed it to what it is now so she can actually "talk" to Eric for him to realize that she is the girl that he's been looking for, rather than just jumping into the song with her and end the show. it would've ended too abruptly.

I was actually really happy that Ariel changes back in the end. I know that was one of the really depressing things in Denver was that she stayed human. And I know that never changed. I saw it 3 times while it was in Denver.

I agree on the songs having a much better effect live. "Poor Unfortunate Souls", though blessed with great orchestrations, sound WAY better with more UMPH live. Plus Sherie's voice sounds a bit, I don't know, nasally and not as full. I get where she's going with it, but it may just be the recording.
I don't WANT to live in what they call "a certain way." In the first place I'd be no good at it and besides that I don't want to be identified with any one class of people. I want to live every whichway, among all kinds---and know them---and understand them---and love them---THAT's what I want! - Philip Barry (Holiday)

I think that's a common issue with most recordings. The live version is always more powerful, because they are in the moment, with the full costume and makeup. It's harder to get into character when you're only singing the songs with limited dialogue. Asking them to be as good as they are live can be a little difficult. It's why dress rehearals aren't as good as the actual performance. When you have an audience, it makes a world of a difference.

Though some people DO sound better on the Cast Recordings than they do live.

I don't care for Sierra's "Part of Your World." I've heard better. I really hope it's Trevor as Flounder.

I think the Denver finale was much better than the one they have now...mostly cause Sierra and Sean get to sing to each other and it's so purty! Whenever the ensemble says something along the lines of 'now they' or 'they were' i keep thinking nononoNO. It should be WE or I
If Only, One Step Closer, and Beyond My Wildest Dreams are my favorite new songs. And I guess I'll throw in She's In Love as well.
