I’m looking for some great plays with strong books that make for good reading. I’ve read Our Town and am planning or reading The Glass Menagerie, but I want to expand past the standards. I don’t have a preference on genre, but I’m a sucker for small cast character exploration. Any suggestions?

I really enjoyed David Lindsay-Abaire's Ripcord. It's got some great character development and an intimate cast, and deals with some interesting issues relating to both family and aging.

For something a little "weirder", but very good, look into Samuel Beckett's work. I especially enjoy Waiting For Godot.

I usually hate reading plays but have enjoyed reading anything by Tennessee Williams and August Wilson.
