I can only hope we'll have freed the surviving Manson family by then- those poor poor people, still being persecuted for something that happened SO long ago!

Polanski is a brilliant filmmaker, I can't wait to see this. Haven't read the actual article, not sure if it mentions anything about casting but I wonder if the original cast is being considered or is likely to be part of the film or if other actors (who are bigger names) are being pursued. I'd love nothing more than to see Marcia Gay Harden and Hope Davis reprise their roles, but I'd also be open to the likes of Julianne Moore, Annette Bening, Toni Collette, et al playing the two women (I thought the men in the play had the most one-dimensional roles).
I'd add Laura Linney to that list, ray.
Oh! Kate Winslet and Laura Linney. I'd KILL to see that.

I heard Elle Fanning is close securing the Marcia Gay Hardin role.
Elle was wonderful in BABEL.
Perfect casting!
FTW? FTW? Yes if he was going for most TASTELESS post of the week.
Isn't Elle Fanning a little too..."white"?
I'm kind of excited about this :)

Well, it IS Roman Polanski we're talking about.

I wonder what kind of "all"-kind of casting they'll use.
I'm excited for this movie. I wonder what would be added. Maybe they'll start the movie with the actual fight betweeen the children.
I'm assuming that, seeing Polanski is a master at conveying claustrophobia, it's going to be a filmed play rather like his DEATH AND THE MAIDEN. I wonder if it wouldn't be better being filmed in its original French.
Did you not like DEATH, Borstal? I loved that film.

It will be Meryl and Glenn shot through gauze and vaseline. It will be bigger than Davis/Crawford.
Well, it IS Roman Polanski we're talking about.
Then let's leave it at Polanski and not bring in the murderers who took the lives of innocent people. It's not funny, nor witty or clever. It's no laughing matter.
If if anyone's post was tasteless it was Phyllis's not Joe's.

Heh.
I'll leave JoeKv to explain his own work, but methinks Carlos missed something there.
Yes I did. My afternoon cafe con leche hadn't kicked in and the intention when straight OVER MY HEAD. I just re-read it with from a clearer perspective. So yes, I do apologize to JoeKV because I own up to it when I'm wrong. The misinterpretation was mine.
Not that he shouldn't be in jail wasting all of his time anyway, but this movie is really a waste of his time. The script is soooo friggin' thin. Sort-of fun showcase for a few great actors to have a good time with onstage, I guess. It really does not need a movie, especially one directed by the guy who made easily the best movie for adults of 2010 so far.
INcidentally, Leslie Van Houten was up for parole this week. Anyone know what happened with that?
She was DENIED parole.

When one uses satire on a message board, one always runs the risk of being misinterpreted.
I do hope when Roman talks to the press next someone asks him if Charles Manson and family shouldn't be granted the understanding and mercy that he himself was the beneficiary of.
