I saw Idina Menzel in it.

No....I agree with muscle, once was enough.
Actually, for me, once was too much. Reading the book again, I wonder why I even went to see it in the first palce. It cannot compete with the book.

No, because I can't stand Lea.
Edit: I can't stand her as a performer, not because she's a big meanie who refuses to hug crazy fans or accept spinach as gifts.

Posted: 7/7/07 at 1:02amJellylorum, I totally agree. I can't stand her as a performer, either. Even though she has been in the business since she was little, I think she still is soo green (not intended to be a pun) as a performer. She's like a bad high school drama department wannabe that got lucky.

I could write a long explanation of why she couldn't do it. Actually I am going to do that...
I don't think she has the range to do it. Possibly she can hit a high F but can she attempt to do it eight times a week? I don't think so. Her voice is not strong enough to do so at her age.
Her role is Spring Awakening makes her "kinda tired" and misses a show for that reason. How the hell would she handle arguably the most challenging role on Broadway? The Gershwin has a raked stage which adds to an already very vocally and physically demanding role. Her role in Spring Awakening is vocally a breeze and she has a hard time handling that already. Elpaba has to be a fierce actress, which is something Lea isn't or hasn't proven.
Also, Elphaba has to carry the show. I don't think Lea is capable of doing that quite yet. Maybe in about 5 years or so she can. Anyways Lea was planning on taking two vacation for just playing Wendla. If she takes two vacation for that role she obviously won't be able to handle a very challenging role.

Tonya Pinkins will be replacing Lea Salonga in WICKED!
Lea Michele is renewing her SPRING AWAKENING contract after the first year is up, along with Jonathan Groff and John Gallagher, Jr.

Posted: 7/7/07 at 9:45amok well, I don't think she's too young. She's 20, Megain Hilty was 20ish when she was in it. I think she would be great, but I would have to see it to be sure. It does make me a tad bit nervous!

Lea's offical response
--------------------------
Hey everyone!
So i have been getting alot of letters asking if im going into Wicked in October. Sadly that rumor is not true
I want sooooo badly to Elphaba, so maybe if we keep the rumors going it'll happen soon:) It would be so hard to leave Spring Awakening, but to play in Wicked would be amazing! Eponine too would be fantastic!!!! So as of now no green
But lets keep our fingers crossed and say our prayers!!!!!!
Thanks guys!!!
Lea

Word came down from the producers at "Spring.." after the information leaked that they want Lea to keep quiet about leaving the show until an official announcement is made (which is why you'll notice she denies the rumor but still remains optomistic about a potential future at "Wicked".)
We can all wait for the official announcement obviously, but I stand by the information that's been presented thus far (as it came from Julia Murney herself.)
We'll see!
