Well, I've told people to go fall in a well and they've actually left.
Actually, it was Maureen not Mimi. There's nothing wrong with her saying some of her dream roles.
Interview where she said.

Posted: 7/7/07 at 5:56pmI think it's great to have dream roles. But she talks as if she expects them, like she deserves them. She's not humble, like "I don't know, there are so many other talented people out there" or something like that. Whatever, I'm reading too much into this. To get back to the original topic, no, I would not see Lea in Wicked for many various reasons.

From the Broadway.com link:
"I'd love to be able to play all different roles, whether it's Maureen in Rent or Maria in West Side Story. I would just love to be involved in this business forever.'
Um...this reads as wishful thinking....dreams that she hopes will be accomplished. Definitely not pretentious.

Posted: 7/7/07 at 9:28pmI don't think she comes off as pretentious at all. Methinks Lizzy is a bit bitter.

I'm not bitter. that article wasn't the only thing that I was talking about. It's that she doesn't seem humble at all. Like, in one of her blogs when she said she was going to be out of SA for a short while, she said "don't miss me too much". Like she's this huge diva.
Anyway, like I said previously, I think I'm reading too much into this and we're getting off-topic.
I'm with you evadiva, let's just stop this now.

Yes, because saying she'd love to play Elphaba and Eponine is being a diva. Please.
I want to play Tobias and Henrik. Does that make me pretentious?

Posted: 7/7/07 at 11:17pmIsn't Lea much more of a nessarose?? But yeah I'd totally see her cause i'm curious what she'll do. Maybe we'll get some nudity in Wicked.

Wow, I say that sometimes. Does that make me a diva too?

oh my gosh, can we just please stop? I don't hate Lea, I've already said why I don't like her and you can agree or disagree, it's just my personal opinion and I'm not asking you to agree. personal attacks are not necessary. I never said anything about you.
just stick to the original topic. answer the original question, yes or no.

"OBVIOUSLY this girl has a belt. We just haven't heard it yet (at least not in Spring or when she was a child). If she couldn't belt, she wouldn't have been cast as Eponine."
Not every actress who has played Eponine uses their chest voice in the role. It has become expected, but it's not necessary.

I've never heard an Eponine without a belt. Nor do I want to!
And the people who have heard one complain about it. So I guess you're right - not every Eponine belts. But every one should! An Eponine without a belt would just be dull dull DULL.
However an ELPHABA without a belt would be a tragedy to say the very least. So Lea better whip one out if she ends up flying into the air!

I will answer the question at hand now, so I do not get yelled at for prattling on. Yes, out of curiousity, I will go see Lea Michele in Wicked, if she is ever cast in it. I was lucky enough to see Spring Awakening and Wicked in the same weekend and loved both shows. But Lea Michele does have a very pure voice, and I am not sure how well that would fit Elphaba. Overall, she is much too young. Though she is talented, someone at her age, twenty, in Wicked would make it seem less of the Broadway spectacle that it is and more of a high school play that overuses special effects. In a few years, when she is in her late twenties or so, once her voice matures a little more and she has more experience and, honestly, when she does not look so young, she will be able to tackle Wicked.

Posted: 7/10/07 at 2:06pmI happen to be a fan of Lea Michele's voice, though not so much her acting, and am not going to speculate whether or not she can carry as big a show in as big a theater as Wicked. If it is true, however, she is not too young to play the role if she has the voice for it. Just this week in Time Out NY, Lisa Brescia said (adorably!)in response to the question "how old are you?", "Elphaba is 19, so for me to say might not be wise". Everyone's just used to seeing older Elphabas and Glindas.

Lea Michele would not look too young as Elphaba at nineteen, but you have got to consider the second act of Wicked, as Elphaba is obviously much older then. Also, if they cast Lea Michele as Elphaba now, a much younger Glinda would have to be found, as it would look awkward if one was obviously much older than the other.

Posted: 7/10/07 at 2:50pmNot that much older. I've heard it's only supposed to be a few years, which would still make Elphie in her early twenties.

Posted: 7/10/07 at 7:42pmAt least according to the book, less than five years pass between what is adapted to be act one and act two. If they are in high school in act one and it's 5 years later in act two, maybe Lisa Brescia was averaging it out to be 19. Either way, I think it's kind of like Phantom... I've seen pictures of Christines who easily look to be in their late 30s, and they are playing a 17 year old. Then when you get younger casting, it's kind of a shock to remember that part is supposed to be just a girl.

Posted: 7/10/07 at 7:48pmOh please. Are we really debating if she'll look the right age? She's almost a carbon copy of a younger Idina... nobody is going to complain about how she LOOKS.
#99re: Poll: Will you go see Lea Michele in Wicked?
Posted: 7/10/07 at 7:52pmI think it's funny how on her Myspace, Lea lists Idina as an influence and who she sounds like. And in that Playbill interview, I loved how she said her dream roles were Maureen and Elphaba.
