Keep in mind, that Glinda is not a role with huge belting going all over the place...the role of Elphaba is. An actress' belt is normally not fully developed until she's around her late 20s.

Maybe it would be a good thing, though, since once all of those scathing reviews came in she would be run out of musical theatre forever....

OOOh, maybe Mimi, too!!!" does she realize how many millions of other people are just as good or better than she is, and want to play a lead on Broadway?!? She's not the only person that wants to play Elphaba. I hate how she thinks she can just get any role she wants at the snap of a finger. She doesn't seem to be humble in the least. Some people deserve to not have to be humble, like Broadway legends or something, but her?! Give me a break

You know what? OBVIOUSLY this girl has a belt. We just haven't heard it yet (at least not in Spring or when she was a child). If she couldn't belt, she wouldn't have been cast as Eponine.
Like it or not, Lea is one of the Broadway "it" girls right now. Of course she is going to be considered for other Broadway roles - at least if her agent is doing his job. Fair or not, when you are out there performing and networking, jobs come easier.
Let her speak out about what she wants to do. So what? She'll be seen for everything she wants to be seen for. She's talented, she's been in this business a long time and she knows a lot of people. Her beautiful looks aren't hurting her either.
Girlfriend is doing something right. Hating on her is wasted energy.
Young ladies, put your energy toward working on your own dreams.

Is there a reason we need people to post her message again and again? It's already been posted.
I'm on somethingwicked's side. Why would Julia Murney, Stephanie J. Block, and other cast members tell us something that wasn't true? Many people I know have confirmed this.
If what somethingwicked and I believe is true, I'll "laugh very hard".

...she never did mention Mimi. She's worked hard on Spring Awakening, 7 years I believe. If she wants to move on to other things then she is. There is nothing you can do about it. She's a good performer. If the she wants and the casting directors want her for the part of Elphaba then she'll be Elphaba. It's showbiz, get over it! I'm sure if you had the TALENT to move on to other shows in a "snap of the finger" you would.

Sorry if the message was posted before. Guess I missed it.
Anyway, I'm NOT in the know and will wait for an official confirmation - but if Julia and Stephanie and "other cast members" confirmed to you that it's Lea taking over, why is she (as of this morning) lying on her myspace instead of just keeping quiet altogether?

antiandrewx - flat out saying the rumor is NOT true sounds pretty firm to me.
That being said, here are a few things I believe:
- the rumor is probably mostly true
- if it IS true, that is really sad that she felt the pressure to lie via myspace about something she's obviously excited about just because others couldn't keep their mouths shut.

Popular, it just dosen't seem like she's saying "No, I'm not going to be Elphaba." She says oh it isn't true BUT I want to soooooo bad and maybe if the rumors keep going it'll come true.
I'm not saying she's lying, I'm just saying that the blog could be a little fib that she was forced to tell.

no need to be rude, I never said anything about you.
Lea actually did mention Mimi in an interview a while back, I don't remember where but she literally said "maybe after this I'll play Mimi in Rent". All pretentious and crap.
It's fine if people expect roles like she does, if they actually have talent. In my opinion she isn't that talented. She's good enough to be in the biz, and just got lucky through connections and stuff. But the reality is, she's no better than a regional chorus girl. And I'm not putting them down, I'm just saying that she has enough talent to be in the biz and it's through pure luck and being in the right place in the right time that she is where she is. She's not exceptionally talented, or better than any other performer in the business. she's just lucky. and she's not humble about it at all.

The storyline to wicked is enough to get me to want to see it in itself. If I had already seen it before, I may have made my decision based on that fact but, alas, I have not.

Actually, it was Maureen not Mimi. There's nothing wrong with her saying some of her dream roles.
