Or... they might just change the design of the toys. I didn't think the song or the numbers were as scary as the make up and costumes (those were really creepy)- they can leave the song and let it be a bit less visually frightening.

I am glad to hear there are some who think the show will NOT be dumbed down. I hate how apparently things have to be dumbed down for Amercians. It makes us look either closed minded or stupid. The Julie Andrews film was brilliant and I adore it, but didn't match what was in the books that much. If this show tries to match what was in the books, then I applaud them for that.
In my opinion, "Temper Temper" should be cut, not because it was scary, but because it was a bad song.
I liked the London production of MARY POPPINS just fine. I appreciated that it wasn't "just" the movie planted on stage, but I did find it lacking in magic; I don't think making some changes from London is necessarily a bad thing, nor do I think making changes would be for the express purpose of dumbing down the story for American audiences.
I also expect that any changes made for New York will eventually find their way into the London production.
As far as I know, there will be very few changes to the show on its transfer to Broadway. They have put some changes into the London production (cuts in songs and dialogue) but nothing drastic. I believe these are the changes they will use on Broadway.
